Import stipulation on five certain products begins coming into effect despite import of the products has yet to run normally. The Director for Import of Directorate Genera of Foreign Trade at Dept of Trade Albert Yusuf Tobogu said that the Trade Minister Decree No. 56/2008 is still general and there must be technical guidance and Decree of Directorate General of Foreign Trade for exemption of Dumai Seaport as a gate of importing food and beverage products.

The President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono called for businesspeople not in a hurry to layoff workers. It means to keep social stability in avoiding people from a panic due to the global crisis. “For the businessmen, I ask for not too quick having layoff. If you [businessmen] get difficulty and cannot cope with it, please make coordination and consult with the central and regional government. Therefore, whatever happens there would be problem solving in the next time,” The President said on Sunday (12/12) when delivered Opening Speech of the 5th National Conference of Kadin at JCC Jakarta.

Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) urged government to give incentive selectively in an effort to help national industry amid the global crisis.
