RI Goods Exports in Intra-ASEAN Region Still Low PDF Print E-mail

Bhima Yudhistira, Bhima Yudhistira, Economist Institute for Economic and Finance Institute (Indef), said that Indonesia's exports of goods and services in the intra-Asean region are still low. This is due to the competitiveness of Indonesian products are still under other countries such as Thailand and Vietnam.

 

He cited the trade in automotive products. Most of the commodity spare parts come from Thailand.

 

Similar conditions also occur for the export of textile commodities. Currently, Vietnam more dominates the trade of these goods.

 

"We lose quality and price. In fact, now is the right momentum to push the export of industrial goods to Asean through improving product quality, machine capacity, and human resources, "he said.

 

In terms of service exports, he continued, Indonesia often experience obstacles in foreign language mastery. He called the Philippines superior in terms of mastery of foreign languages ​​compared with Indonesia.

 

Bhima asked the government to revise the rules of service exports. One of them concerns exemption of Value Added Tax (VAT) for export in that sector.

 

He explained that Indonesia can utilize several channels to increase trade in goods and services to intra-ASEAN countries. The entrepreneurs, according to him, can make a business forum at the regional level as an event to expand the market.

 

Meanwhile, PwC analysis found that intra-ASEAN region export volume will soon penetrate the figure of US $ 375 billion in 2025. The Asean region is well suited for export expansion due to the strength and consistency of production growth and population size

Economists at PwC do not expect uniform expansion as some of ASEAN's less developed and more specialized economies in service exports would be better off if positioned to increase export volumes.

 

PwC predicts service exports could become an opportunity by 2016. However, Cambodia and the Philippines are the only ASEAN member countries with a service sector accounting for more than 30% of their overall export balance.

 

However, since 2010, the percentage of service exports as a proportion of total Asean exports has increased by five points to 22%. Over the period, Myanmar (25%) and Thailand (23%) experienced the largest increase in service exports as a proportion of total exports, respectively 4% and 15%.

 

Ekspor Barang RI di Kawasan Intra-Asean Masih Rendah

 

 

 

Ekonom Institute For Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) Bhima Yudhistira menilai ekspor barang dan jasa Indonesia di kawasan intra-Asean masih rendah. Hal itu disebabkan daya saing produk Indonesia masih berada di bawah negara lain seperti Thailand dan Vietnam.

 

Dia mencontohkan perdagangan produk otomotif. Sebagian besar suku cadang komoditas itu berasal dari Thailand.

 

Kondisi serupa juga terjadi untuk ekspor komoditas tekstil. Saat ini, Vietnam lebih mendominasi perdagangan barang tersebut.

 

“Kita kalah soal kualitas dan harga. Justru itu, sekarang momentum yang tepat untuk dorong ekspor barang industri ke Asean melalui perbaikan kualitas produk, kapasitas mesin, dan sumber daya manusia,” ujarnya

 

Dari sisi ekspor jasa, sambungnya, Indonesia kerap mengalami kendala dalam urusan penguasaan bahasa asing. Dia menyebut Filipina lebih unggul dari segi penguasaan bahasa asing dibandingkan dengan Indonesia.

 

Bhima meminta kepada pemerintah untuk merevisi ulang aturan ekspor jasa. Salah satunya menyangkut pembebasan Pajak Pertambahan Nilai (PPN) untuk ekspor di sektor tersebut.

 

Dia menjelaskan Indonesia dapat memanfaatkan beberapa saluran untuk meningkatkan perdagangan barang dan jasa ke negara intra-Asean. Para pengusaha menurutnya dapat menjadikan forum bisnis di tingkat regional sebagi ajang untuk memperluas pasar.

 

Sementara itu, analisis PwC menemukan bahwa volume ekspor intra kawasan Asean akan segera menembus angka US$375 miliar pada tahun 2025. Kawasan Asean disebut sangat cocok untuk ekspansi ekspor karena kekuatan dan konsistensi pertumbuhan hasil produksi dan besarnya populasi

berusia kerja.

 

Para ahli ekonomi di PwC tidak mengharapkan adanya keseragaman ekspansi karena beberapa perekonomian ASEAN yang kurang berkembang dan yang lebih terspesialisasi di bidang ekspor jasa akan lebih baik apabila diposisikan untuk meningkatkan volume ekspornya.

 

 

PwC memprediksi ekspor jasa dapat menjadi sebuah peluang pada tahun 2016. Namun, Kamboja dan Filipina menjadi satu-satunya negara anggota ASEAN dengan sektor jasa yang menyumbang lebih dari 30% neraca ekspornya secara keseluruhan.

 

Akan tetapi, sejak tahun 2010, persentase ekspor jasa sebagai proporsi dari total ekspor Asean telah meningkat lima poin menjadi 22%. Selama jangka waktu tersebut, Myanmar (25%) dan Thailand (23%) mengalami peningkatan terbesar dalam ekspor jasa sebagai proporsi dari total ekspor, masing-masing 4% dan 15%.
