The National Textile Conference was over and it was held on 18-19 November 2009. The meeting of the textile businesspeople was opened by the Minister of Industry MS Hidayat. The event that discussed the market trend from 2008 and the forecast market in 2010-2011 was attended by more than 150 participants consisting of textile businessmen from upstream to downstream sectors, the lecturers and students from the School of Textile Technology (STTTekstil), the representatives of the House of Textile (BBT), Dept of Industry, the graduates of ITT-STTTekstil and other invitations.

In his speech, Hidayat told Indonesia is ambitious to become a giant textile industry in the world or be parallel with other world’s textile producing countries such as China and India . To achieve this ambition, there must be improvements in textile research institutes and the independence of raw materials. In the same time, the textile producers must understand destination of export market, including the consumption pattern of the export market.

The Textile National Conference was held at Atlet Century Hotel. The event was held by IKA-STTTekstil (Alumni Association of School of Textile Technology) in cooperated with Indotextiles and was supported by API (Indonesian Textile Association), Apsyfi (Synthetic Fiber Manufacturers Association), Dept of Industry, STTTekstil, and was also sponsored by PT South Pacific Viscose (SPV), PT BASF, Conitex Sonoco, PT Rieter Ltd., PT Indonesia Lawson, Surveyor Indonesia, Indonesian Batik Cooperatives Association (GKBI), PT Picanol, PT Kawan Era Baru and Messe Frankfurt.

National textile conference telah usai digelar pada 18-19 November 2009 lalu, pertemuan para pelaku industri tekstil ini dibuka oleh Menteri Perindustri (Menperin) MS Hidayat. Acara yang membahas trend pasar dari 2008 dan ramalan pasar di tahun 2010-2011 dihadiri lebih dari 150 peserta yang terdiri dari pelaku industri tekstil dari sektor hulu hingga hilir, staf pengajar dan mahasiswa dari Sekolah Tinggi Teknologi Tekstil (STTTekstil), perwakilan Balai Besar Tekstil (BBT), Depperin, alumni ITT-STTTekstil dan para undangan.

Dalam sambutannya, Hidayat menuturkan Indonesia berambisi menjadi raksasa industri tekstil dan produk tekstil (TPT) dunia atau bisa sejajar dengan negara-negara industri tekstil besar dunia seperti China dan India . Guna mencapai ambisi tersebut harus ada pembenahan di lembaga penelitian tekstil, kemandirian bahan baku. Selain itu, prodysen TPT harus memahami pasar tujuan ekspor termasuk pola konsumsi pasar ekspor.
