Drop in textile industry and textile products (TPT) is currently not surprising, since this is unpredictable since 2 years ago. Redma Gita Wirawasta, Secretary General of the Indonesian Synthetic Fiber Producers Association (APSyFI), said in 2013 the company has filed anti-dumping petitions filament yarn and recommend the imposition of safeguards on all textile products from upstream to.

However, interested parties in practice imports reject this proposal, even the imposition of anti-dumping effort has foundered filament yarn middle of the road. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in the last 5 years, the average textile imports rose 19.9 percent, exports rose 6.8 percent, while private consumption rose 18.3 percent. This condition can be that the market growth in the domestic market encroached on imported goods, while exports did not grow significantly.

Redma explained that the global economic slowdown led to over supply conditions, producers in other countries slam cent price up to be one of the main causes deterioration of the textile industry at this time, but if the government anticipatory, import controls and provide the domestic market on local producers, the conditions will be much different.

"At least we have a place to sell and the industry could still continue to produce" decisive Redma. APSyFI calculations based on data sourced from Bank Indonesia, people's purchasing power in the last 5 years continues to increase where the consumption of textiles rose from 1.21 million tons in 2009 to 1.75 million tons in 2014.
