The export performance in January-February 2016 decreased by approximately 14.3 percent, valued at 21.7 billion US dollars over the same period in 2015 ago. The decline in export performance was due to the global economic growth has not improved and the falling prices of primary export commodity.

"The global economy has not been too good so that in 2016 the export contraction occurs between 0 to 5 percent," said Director General of National Export Development Ministry of Trade Nus Nuzulia Isaac in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/4).

Nus explains, Indonesia's export commodities were quite nice consist of textiles and textile products, ruber and derivatives, furniture, chemical products, and processed food. The commodity accounts for 60 percent of the national export performance. Nus added, the majority of Indonesia's exports are in the form of primary commodities whose prices are still down.

To boost exports, it is necessary and the development of downstream processing of primary products. However, according to the downstream Nus alone is not enough and there needs to diversify export destinations. Nus explains, expanding the market to non-traditional countries is not easy, so the government provides export financing support for exporters.

"The government has made a financing facility that is good and should be utilized by businesses affected by the global economic slowdown," said Nus.

Nus said this year the Ministry of Commerce will conduct five trade missions to non-traditional countries namely Africa, Pakistan, India, ASEAN, and East Europe. In July 2016 the government would start a trade mission to Nigeria and Ghana. The products that will be offered in a trade mission to the two countries include palm oil, textiles and textile products, and process food.

Ekonomi Global Belum Pulih
