Exports of textiles and textile products (TPT) in the last five years of stagnant, and even tends to fall. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) performance of textile exports in 2011 reached USD 13.17 billion, and in 2015 continued to drop to just USD12,33 billion.

It is inversely proportional to the performance of textile imports which rose from USD6,52 billion in 2011 to USD6,95 billion in 2015. This makes the textile trade surplus continues to fall.

Seeing this phenomenon, the Alumni Association of the Institute of Textile Technology - Institute of Textile Technology (ITT-STTT IKA) said the government should put more effort to synergize all sectors of the textile industry from upstream to downstream.

According to the Chairman of IKA ITT-STTT, Suryaman Sastomi, government efforts by providing various facilities and investment waivers only attract investors with just a sewing machine, which at any moment could leave freely.

"Fanfare textile exports currently only enjoyed by a handful of entrepreneurs seem broker and tailor, have not been enjoyed by all sectors of the textile industry," he said, Tuesday (26/04/2016).

He assessed that in the past few years the textile entrepreneurs just put the interests of himself and does not unite to fight against competitors. "It looks like a sense of nationalism has faded. In fact, in the era of 1970-1980 during the heyday of the textile is a key element of success for optimal processing domestic capabilities. We therefore urge the garment industry to reduce dependence on imported raw materials, "he said.

It is different by the Secretary General of the Association Fiber and Filament Yarn Indonesia, Gita Redma Wirawasta. He said the domestic market should be the main focus. "The domestic market should act as safety and guaranteed market for domestic products," said Redma.

Redma, China, India, Brazil and Turkey carry out such a strategy. "The policy of whatever they spend in order to protect its domestic market," he explained.

He looked at the consumption of textile products in 2015 was not as expected. However, if protecting the domestic market as did India, Turkey and Brazil, the minimum performance of the textile industry we are not sinking. "At least there are no layoffs," he said.

But in recent years instead of imported goods that dominate the domestic market. Efforts to make the domestic market as a home for local products has always been hampered by the importers who live on the profits of imported goods.

Even these importers hide behind the label manufacturer to the government difficult to distinguish where importers traders, where the importer producers. "So an effort to reduce imports merely discourse, may indeed be conditioned like that, order the importer," he said.
