Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat Usman said, Indonesia should immediately join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and completed the comprehensive economic cooperation pact with the European Union (EU). If Indonesia joined the 12 countries TPP and Economics Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union (EU), the employment sector of textiles and textile products (TPT) can be doubled.

"I'm still optimistic. Now in this textile is already absorb 2.7 million. I believe with the joint CEPA TPP and the EU could increase to double to 5.4 million, "said Ade met on the sidelines of discussion in the Ministry of Commerce, in Jakarta, Wednesday (18/5) as reported by the Kompas.com.

Employment of it, is expected to occur in 2025. In addition to the increase in labor absorption, joining Indonesia to TPP, according to Ade, of course, would hoist the export performance of the textile sector.

Ade also said, in strategies between China and the US and the EU bloc will not happen Free Trade Agreement. So that both the US and EU are now overwhelmed by the onslaught of Chinese manufacturing.

"If there is free trade, so exhausted they are," said Ade.

"Hence Free Trade Agreement will never happen with China. There will be a fixed tariff barriers. But China right enggakkalah sense. They both state and private equally astute, "said Ade.

Earlier, Senior Advisor in Economics and Public Policy AIPEG Ahmad Shauki alarming, if Indonesia did not join the TPP, there will be trade diversion or TPP countries' exports worth 306 million US dollars.

This concern is not solely due to state-manufacturing giant China, but countries that have similar export structure Indonesia, and has been incorporated in the TPP, such as Vietnam and Malaysia.

"In relative terms, the price of the goods they sell will be cheaper than similar goods from Indonesia, due to low tariffs," said Achmad.

API Mendukung Indonesia Ikut UE CEPA

“Kalau terjadi perdagangan bebas, ya habis mereka,” sambung Ade.
