Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), Central Java, Liliek Setiawan, said Solo Community Academy has succeeded in producing textile dyes are made from plants. Textile dyes from plants typical of Indonesian textile industry can reduce dependence on imported dyes.

Community Academy Solo develop textile dye products derived from Indonesian craftsmen tradition to be used in large-scale modern industry.

Traditional dyes, added, modified to be more durable embedded in textiles and transformed from a liquid to a gel or powder.

He explained that traditional dye can only be stored for 3 months to be used in the production process. Coloring products are processed into a kind of gel or powder can survive in the stock plant up to 2 years.

"We have developed in the form of a gel and then in the form of powder. Existing production in three colors: red, yellow, and blue, "said Liliek.

Community Academy Solo is currently only producing about 50 kilograms of coloring every day entirely absorbed by the small and medium industries in Solo and the surrounding area.

Liliek estimate the volume of production should be increased to reach 150 kilograms per day in order to achieve economies of scale of production activity.

Ketergantungan Impor Bisa Dikurangi Dengan Pewarna Tekstil Alami
