API chairman Ade Sudrajat assess rising food prices high enough to make people put aside clothing. The absorption of the domestic market up to May decreased ten percent compared with the same month in 2015 ago. It was based on data from the Indonesian Textile Association (API).

 

'' For the performance of the domestic market this year is worse than last year. We worry if the cause is food prices rise too sharply or purchasing power is low, '' he said.

 

Fortunately, the export market did not go down. In the period from January to April, the value of exports of textiles and textile products reached USD 3.96 billion. That figure is relatively stagnant compared with the same period last year.

 

Meanwhile, the total value of exports reached USD 12.28 billion. The performance of Indonesian textile exports to stagnate because of competition from Vietnam which recorded export value of USD 30 billion in the first quarter of this year.

 

'' These conditions should make the government in order to improve the textile industry could have global competitiveness, '' said Ade.

 

United States is still the main export market of textile products Indonesia. His contributions reached 36 per cent, and then followed by the EU with 14 per cent. Textile exports to the EU fell compared to last year reached 20 percent.

 

The reason, the EU provides duty exemption facilities to countries that lagged (general system of preferences). For example, Myanmar, Bangladesh or Vietnam.

 

 

Faktor Yang Menyebabkan Ekspor Tekstil Indonesia Tergilas

 

 

Ketua API Ade Sudrajat menilai kenaikan harga bahan pangan yang cukup tinggi membuat masyarakat mengesampingkan kebutuhan sandang.. Penyerapan pasar domestik hingga Mei lalu menurun sepuluh persen jika dibandingkan dengan bulan yang sama pada 2015 lalu. Hal itu berdasarkan data Asosiasi Pertekstilan Indonesia (API).

 

’’Untuk kinerja pasar  domestik tahun ini lebih buruk daripada tahun lalu. Kami khawatir jika penyebabnya adalah harga pangan yang naik terlalu tajam atau daya beli masyarakat yang memang rendah,’’ katanya.

 

Untung, pasar ekspor tidak ikut turun. Pada periode Januari–April, nilai ekspor tekstil dan produk tekstil mencapai USD 3,96 miliar. Angka itu relatif stagnan jika dibandingkan dengan periode yang sama pada tahun lalu.

 

Sementara itu, nilai total ekspor mencapai USD 12,28 miliar. Kinerja ekspor tekstil Indonesia stagnan karena kalah bersaing dengan Vietnam yang mencatat nilai ekspor USD 30 miliar pada kuartal pertama tahun ini.

 

’’Kondisi ini seharusnya membuat pemerintah berbenah agar industri tekstil bisa memiliki daya saing global,’’ ungkap Ade.

 

Amerika Serikat masih menjadi pasar utama ekspor produk tekstil Indonesia. Kontribusinya mencapai 36 persen, lalu disusul Uni Eropa dengan 14 persen. Ekspor tekstil ke Uni Eropa turun jika dibandingkan dengan tahun lalu yang mencapai 20 persen.

 

Alasannya, Uni Eropa memberikan fasilitas pembebasan bea masuk kepada negara-negara yang tertinggal (sistem preferensi general). Misalnya, Myanmar, Bangladesh, atau Vietnam.
