The Ministry of Industry filed several additional industries to get a reduction in gas prices, among them textiles and footwear, food and beverage, pulp and paper. Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), Ade Sudrajat, said the decline in gas prices in the textile sector will provide a positive injection for industrial growth, considering that the first quarter growth contracted 1.56%.

Earlier, President Joko Widodo issued Presidential Regulation No. 40 Pricing Gas.

In the regulation, set up seven industrial sector will get a price reduction of gas of which is the fertilizer industry, petrochemical industry, the oleochemical industry, steel industry, ceramic industry, glass industry and industrial rubber gloves.

"It should have been included in the list of textiles decline in gas prices because the cost of energy in this sector is crucial. Its influence is very large because of the structure of energy costs about 26% in the fiber industry, "said Ade in Jakarta.

Ade expect the government to improve the marketing of energy so that the interests of national industry is not disturbed competitiveness especially against the other industries in Asean.

"The gas price is expensive will greatly affect the price of secondary energy such as electricity. This is what causes the textile industry to compete with the industry in Vietnam, "he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Joint Food and Beverage Company Indonesia (Gapmmi), Adhi Lukman said the price of gas a factor supporting the competitiveness of the food and beverage industry, given the estimated cost of energy to reach 4% to 10%.

"It was in accordance with the proposal given mamin associations contribute to the national GDP and 31% and direct employment of up to 4 million," he said.

Penurunan Harga Gas Berdampak Positif Bagi Industri

Sebelumnya, Presiden Joko Widodo mengeluarkan Peraturan Presiden Nomor 40 tentang Penetapan Harga Gas Bumi.
