The Ministry of Industry targets the textile industry and textile products (TPT) in the top five exporting countries world. "The government set the textile industry as one of the sub-sectors of the manufacturing industry which is categorized as a strategic industry and national priorities," said Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartanto .

To achieve this target, the Ministry of Industry held a meeting with 160 entrepreneurs of the textile industry. In addition to textile industry as a producer of foreign exchange, as well menajadi social safety net because it absorbs considerable manpower.

Based on data from the Ministry of Industry, labor intensive sectors that until now have employment for three million people with an investment of Rp 8.45 trillion. Against foreign exchange earnings, the industry recorded export value reached US $ 12.28 billion in 2015 and accounted for 10.6 percent of employment of the total manufacturing industry labor force.

According to Airlangga, the textile industry is currently experiencing a variety of challenges, though it has been integrated from upstream to downstream. To that end, the government is now giving incentives to boost the value of textile exports. "The incentive, such as value-added tax exemption for raw material export-oriented textile industry and gas pricing policy that scale economically," he said.

Airlangga said, exemption of value added tax aims to make textile and apparel producers to switch from imported raw materials to the production of raw materials in the country. While gas at low prices can reduce the burden on employers in expending energy costs for electricity rates are quite expensive.

Director General of Chemical Industry, Textile and Miscellaneous (IKTA) Ministry Industry Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono optimistic performance of the textile industry will be well in line with national economic growth this year. Growth is expected to reach 5.2 to 5.6 percent (year-on-year), higher than the growth in 2015 of 4.79 percent.

Processing industry, continued Sigit, is vital to the national economic growth because it accounts for 20.48 per cent in the second quarter of 2016. In addition, the processing industry also contributed the largest export reached 85.76 percent of the total national exports. "Total industry exports in the first half of this year amounted to US $ 9.93 billion."

According to data from the Ministry of Industry, the national textile industry's export performance over the last five years experienced an average growth of 2.28 percent with an export value reached US $ 12.28 billion in 2015. This performance is somewhat better than the national export performance around 4.69 percent and non-oil exports amounted to 8.92 percent.

It is certainly not without the hard work of the government together with all actors in the country's textile industry to survive global competition increasingly intense, "said Sigit.

According to Sigit, the growth prospects of the national textile industry is getting better in the future as demand in the domestic market continue to soar and rising world consumption.

Langkah Indonesia Untuk Menduduki 5 Besar Ekportir Tekstil Dunia
