The decline in gas prices will boost the textile industry utilization upstream to nearly optimal. Secretary General of the Association of Fiber and Filament Yarn Indonesia (Apsyfi) Redma Wirawasta said the drop in gas prices to $ 4 per MMBTU could raise plant utilization synthetic fibers of approximately 79.2% to 97.8%.

"Our production is rising because we could import substitution. Domestic sales and add a little additional exports, "said Redma .

Energy costs have the second largest portion of the total cost of production of the upstream textile industry, which is as much as 24%. The load on the fiber production is the cost of raw materials as much as 56%.

Redma explain high gas prices make Indonesia the synthetic fiber industry to compete with overseas manufacturers. Rival Indonesian textile manufacturers in China and India respectively get gas at a price of US $ 4 per MMBTU and US $ 2 per MMBTU.

Director of the Textile, Leather, Footwear, and Arts, Ministry of Industry, Muhdori, said increased production efficiency in the upstream industry upstream bound to benefit the textile industry as the raw material.

He said the textile industry is one of the sectors upstream additional industry proposed by the government as an incentive recipients decline in gas prices.

"If the above could be streamlined, more efficient automatic upstream. The raw materials are cheaper, the results can also be cheaper product. It supports the needs of the domestic garment industry for export purposes, "said Muhdori.

Harga Gas Turun, Utilisasi Tekstil Hulu Optimal
