Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartanto promote independence of the textile industry in the country by strengthening the depth of the industrial structure. For that, he held a meeting with one of the rayon fiber producers in Indonesia, namely PT Indo Bharat Rayon to determine the condition of the textile industry as a whole.

"We want to see the textile industry from upstream to downstream. The textile industry exists based cotton, rayon and polyester. All we can push independence is based rayon and polyester, cotton that still have to import," said Airlangga on Wednesday.

According to Airlangga, there are several obstacles to realize the independence of the textile industry in the country, one of which is the price of gas.

In addition, the invasion of imported products from several countries also become a challenge for the domestic textile industry.

"If the terms of the production capacity we had enough. Staying harmonized so that in the middle of it, right now they attacked imported goods. Now, we see the weak points we where," he said.

Airlangga said that after reviewing the condition of the textile industry as a whole, the Ministry of Industry will issue some policies so that these challenges can be resolved.

"There will be some policies, but we will see later how the overall condition," said Airlangga.

Kementrian Perindustrian: Industri Tekstil Harus  Mandiri
