Manufacturers of textiles and textile products responded positively to the government's plan to fix the marketing of textile industry is considered to have significant impact on national competitiveness. Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat assess traffic arrangements raw materials yarns and fabrics for textile producers is important that the trade balance efficiently.

"This for me is that the installed capacity and the rationalization of production was fitting that the production process so just in time, imported as needed," he said.

He also welcomed the government's plan to extend the working hours and reduce the cost of electrical energy to improve the competitiveness of national industry against major competitor countries.

However, Ade suggest the government is also reviewing multiple benefits structure for workers in Indonesia that makes labor costs in Indonesia are not competitive.

Secretary General of the Association of Indonesian synthetic fibers (Apsyfi) Redma Wirawasta said revamping the marketing of products yarns and fabrics must be a priority because of the high volumes of imports.

He explained that the volume of imports of fabric in eight years rose from 300,000 tons to 600,000 tons in the current volume of garment exports stagnated at around 500,000 tonnes.

However, he considered the improvement of the trade system still must be accompanied by the application of safeguards for the textile industry raw materials.

Redma said security measures are still required for imports of textiles and textile products prices internationally unnatural due to oversupply.

Industri TPT Sambut Pembenahan Tata Niaga Tekstil
