To compete with similar imported products and win the domestic market competition, the Ministry of Industry to strengthen the competitiveness of the textile industry and textile products (TPT) national. Industry has a priority value chains and processes that have been integrated from upstream to downstream, so it should be strengthened.

"Textile industry at this year began to show the movement of growth is expected next year back into a rising industry that continue to drive the industry's growth and increase its contribution to the national economy," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Syarif Hidayat, representing the Minister of Industry at the graduation ceremony Polytechnic STTT Bandung, West Java, Saturday (17/12).

Kemenperin noted, during the period of 2015, the domestic textile industry products donated export value of 12.28 billion US dollars, equivalent to 8.17 percent of the total national exports. "Furthermore, it provides a surplus in foreign exchange amounted to 4,31miliar dollars, mostly from apparel or garment industry," said Sharif.

Step synergies do Kemenperin together relevant stakeholders in defining the specific policies and appropriate for improving the competitiveness of the national textile industry, including value-added tax exemption for raw material export-oriented textile industry and the decline in gas prices the economic scale.

Secretary General explained, exemption of value added tax aims to make textile and apparel producers to switch from imported raw materials to the production of raw materials in the country. Meanwhile, gas at low prices can reduce the burden on employers in expending energy costs for electricity rates are quite expensive.

In fact, when it led a limited meeting with a number of Cabinet Ministers Work on December 6, 2016 for a discussion of the marketing of textile products, the President Joko Widodo mentioned that the decline in gas prices to the textile industry is one of the policies needed to be implemented because it has a significant contribution in the upstream sector is labor-intensive this.

Sharif added, according to the direction of President Jokowi Industry Ministry is also coordinating with other ministries and authorities for the prevention and eradication of illegal importation of textile products in the form ballpress (solid sack).

"We will also pay attention and immediate decisive action to import used clothes that go through the port 'rat'," he said.

In addition, according to the secretary general, the market share of Indonesian textile industry in the world is still very wide because currently only 1.56 percent of the global market. One of them need to encourage the opening of the national textile industry markets to the EU.

"Middle-class population in the country continues to increase, there is the opportunity for our textile industry to continue to increase its market share," said Sharif.

Daya Saing Tekstil Lokal Diperkuat Untuk Lawan Produk Impor
