Indonesia's textile industry has been facing fierce competition especially with the coming onslaught of textile products from the producer countries in the Asian region. Therefore the Government of Indonesia responded well various proposals to improve the competitiveness of industrial textiles and textile products (TPT). Ideas  are expected to trigger the growth of the textile industry in 2017.

Director of the Textile, Leather, Footwear and Arts, Ministry of Industry, Muhdori asserted his optimism on the growth of the textile industry will be better in the future.

One reason, because a number of the proposed improvement of competitiveness already responded positively to President Jokowi some time ago.

According Muhdori, one proposal of the Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartanto the positive response the President Jokowi is the electricity tariff for the textile industry.

According Muhdori, the proposal concerns the electricity tariff for the textile industry from being charged at peak load electricity.

"The issue of electricity tariffs is one of the major elements to improve the competitiveness of the textile industry in order to compete in the domestic and export markets," added Muhdori.

The more important thing is the President Jokowi also agreed with the control of imports of fabric, yarn and garments.

The Ministry of Industry has also proposed import of textile goods are not allowed through the sea port in Java.

"Imports of textile products is only allowed through the Port of Dumai and Bitung. Control of such imports could raise the textile industry such as fabrics and yarns that have been distorted by imported products, "said Muhdori in a press release late last year.

Answering questions from members of the media when describing the performance of the national industry in 2016, the Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartanto not deny that the establishment of the port of Dumai and Bitung as a port for the import of textile products is still being discussed at inter-ministerial level.

Some time ago the Head of State also urged ministers to seek a breakthrough economics in order to revive the growth of the national textile industry.

Kendali Impor Bahan Baku Bangkitkan Tekstil Indonesia
