An estimated 1200 workers in the Bangladeshi textile industry laid off in December 2016. Layoffs in the suspect's strong riposte from the government and employers on protests and labor strikes undertaken during 2016 to demand higher wage increases.

Strikes were launched during the week had cut off the supply in 12 areas that send branded products to Europe and the US. The strike that has paralyzed 50 factories across the country.

Textile industry labor costs now amounting to 5,300 taka (about 64 euro per month). The Bangladeshi workers demanding higher wages three times higher than now. Minimum wage workers increased in 2013, thanks to International pressure after the tragic events of the fall of the textile factory complex in Daca three and a half years ago. The tragic events that have cost the lives of 1127 people died and 2,437 were injured.

But the minimum wage is still one of the lowest in the world. Three to four million laborers working in the textile industry which accounts for 12% of the PIB. Protest lately occurred in 4500 textile factories scattered across the country who have a long history of industrial accidents caused by poor working conditions and low wages

Pemutusan Hubungan Kerja Di Bangladesh

Upah buruh industri tekstil sekarang sebesar 5,300 taka (kira-kira 64 euro per bulan).
