Indonesia Fashion Week 2017 event ready to be held. Within days of the fashion event on the theme Celebrations of Culture will appoint and introduce the cultural heritage of Indonesia through fashion. Association of Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs (APPMI) as organizers are committed to supporting and promoting Indonesian culture by transforming locally packaged modern fashion in order to be accepted in the international arena.


Different from the previous year, IFW this time will be held for five consecutive days ie from the 1st to February 5th, 2017 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The annual fashion week will be enlivened by more than 400 exhibitors and a fashion show featuring 25 of about 200 designers, competitions, seminars, talk shows and workshops.


President of Indonesia Fashion Week 2017, Poppy Dharsono revealed, this event aims to understand the power possessed by the activists of Indonesian fashion to support the Government in promoting the 10 leading tourist destinations, one of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).


Poppy added, through APPMI, IFW is expected to be a bridge for the craftsmen, fashion craft, and designers to protect the culture and history of Indonesia. "Fashion is no longer just look slick on the outer packaging only, but also have the wisdom and concern for the social, cultural and environmental," said Poppy current IFW event Pre-event gathering in Jakarta.


This time, the designers will process the local weaving drawn from 22 districts in NTT to be an acceptable draft local and international markets. Besides weaving NTT, IFW 2017 will also be tinged with embroidery and stitching results craftsmen from Kudus, Central Java. Later, craftsmen from Banyuwangi and Gianyar also enliven the largest fashion event in Indonesia this.


To continue to develop the fashion industry, designers and stakeholders should intensify marketing activities and creating good quality products. This is because the fashion industry in Indonesia still has room to grow. Stretching the domestic fashion industry can be reflected from the middle class will continue to grow. "The middle class and upper class continues to rise, they are usually in a month to buy clothes abroad. Now one from within and one from abroad, this is better," says Poppy.


The fashion industry is quite strong because sustained by small-scale industries are more viable to rise. The hope, IFW can facilitate these gaps. The annual fashion event initiated by APPMI is targeting 150 thousand visitors for the title this year.



1 Februari 2017, Indonesia Fashion Week Dimulai!


Ajang Indonesia Fashion Week 2017 siap digelar. Dalam hitungan hari ajang fashion yang mengusung tema Celebrations of Culture ini akan mengangkat dan memperkenalkan warisan budaya bangsa Indonesia melalui fashion. Asosiasi Perancang dan Pengusaha Mode Indonesia (APPMI) sebagai penyelenggara berkomitmen untuk mendukung dan mempromosikan budaya Indonesia dengan cara mentransformasikan fashion lokal yang dikemas modern agar bisa diterima di kancah internasional.


Berbeda dari tahun sebelumnya, IFW kali ini akan digelar selama lima hari berturut-turut yakni mulai tanggal 1 hingga 5 Februari 2017 di Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). Pekan mode tahunan ini akan diramaikan oleh lebih dari 400 peserta pameran dan menampilkan 25 peragaan busana dari sekitar 200 perancang busana, kompetisi, seminar, talk show dan workshop.


Presiden Indonesia Fashion Week 2017, Poppy Dharsono mengungkapkan, ajang ini bertujuan untuk memahami kekuatan yang dimiliki oleh penggiat mode Indonesia untuk mendukung pemerintah dalam mempromosikan 10 destinasi wisata unggulan, salah satunya Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT).


Poppy menambahkan, melalui APPMI, IFW diharapkan dapat menjadi jembatan bagi pengrajin, fashion craft, dan designer untuk melindungi budaya dan sejarah Indonesia. “Fashion tak lagi hanya sekedar tampil apik di kemasan luarnya saja, namun juga memiliki kearifan dan kepedulian terhadap sosial, budaya, dan lingkungan,” kata Poppy saat acara IFW Pre-event Gathering di Jakarta.


Kali ini, para desainer akan mengolah tenun lokal yang diambil dari 22 kabupaten di NTT untuk menjadi sebuah rancangan yang bisa diterima pasar lokal maupun internasional. Selain tenun NTT, IFW 2017 juga akan diwarnai dengan bordir dan sulaman hasil pengrajin dari Kudus, Jawa Tengah. Kemudian, pengrajin dari Banyuwangi dan Gianyar juga turut memeriahkan ajang fashion terbesar se-Indonesia ini.


Untuk terus mengembangkan industri fashion para desainer dan pihak terkait harus menggencarkan kegiatan pemasaran dan menciptakan produk berkualitas baik. Hal ini karena industri mode di Indonesia masih memiliki ruang untuk terus tumbuh. Geliat industri fashion dalam negeri bisa tercermin dari kelas menengah yang masih akan terus tumbuh. "Kelas menengah dan kelas atas terus naik, biasanya mereka dalam satu bulan membeli pakaian di luar negeri. Sekarang satu dari dalam dan satu dari luar negeri, ini sudah lebih baik,” kata Poppy.


Industri fashion ini cukup kuat karena ditopang oleh industri-industri kecil yang lebih giat untuk bangkit. Harapannya, IFW bisa memfasilitasi kesenjangan tersebut. Ajang fashion  tahunan yang digagas oleh APPMI ini menargetkan 150 ribu pengunjung untuk gelaran tahun ini.
