Indonesian Textile Association (API) to assess the release of United States (US) on a free trade agreement Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) provides fresh air for the textile industry. Therefore, the textile exports could actually be better. The textile industry also was on a roll.

Chairman of API Sudrajat said, the release of American is good news for the textile industry. Therefore, the Indonesian textile made textiles can compete with Vietnam in the land of Uncle Sam.

According to Ade, during this time, the local textile can not compete in the American market with products made in Vietnam. "Our goal going in TPP that duty-free to the United States like Vietnam. But, with the release of the US there is no point enter TPP, "he said

According to him, the American out of TPP, the Vietnamese products will be subject to import duties as long as this applies to textiles for Indonesia. "Competition to be more fair," he said.

Therefore, Ade targeting, this year the value of textile exports to the US rose two percent. Total textile exports reached 12.2 billion US dollars. Of the total exports, 36 percent of all Americans. "We expect this year rose to 38 percent," said Ade.

Associated with the planned US President Donald Trump doing trade protection, he is confident will not have an impact on textile exports. He considered, Trump simply tightening for high-tech products, such as automotive and steel. Whereas, for textile products will not be obstructed.

"It seems to industry labor-intensive products will not forbidden. Because the labor hire there is expensive, "he said.

He was also optimistic that Indonesia will not be flooded by Chinese products due to American prohibit products made in the Bamboo Curtain country market entry. His reasons, different classes of goods.

"The trade deficit America and China reached 400 million US dollars. Therefore, the President of Trump restrict Chinese products enter the country, "he said.

Ade added that Chinese goods sold in the American market class KW 1. As a result the price is also expensive. Meanwhile, Chinese goods coming into Indonesia 5-6 KW class. "So China can not possibly exhaust barang¬nya to us. Class is also different, "he explained.

Secretary General API Ernovian G. Ismy say, post-discharge America from TPP, the government should increase trade cooperation with the United States. This is to facilitate, products made in Indonesia entered the American market.

"We've been doing export to many countries. America is one of the major export markets of our textiles. In addition, the other is the largest export market of ASEAN, Japan and the European Union, "he said.

He predicts the value of textile exports this year will not be much different from the achievements of last year. But, he asks, goverment keeping the market in Domestic. One way is to oversee the circulation of illegal textile products.

To note, last week, US President Donald Trump presses memo stating orders US out of per¬janjian TPP trade. He did not take long to realization campaign promise.

In fact, the TPP was built by the previous US president Barack Obama. da 11 countries outside the US who are already members of the TPP, namely, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam. In fact, Indonesia before drawn in TPP.

Earlier, Deputy Sekretaris Vice President for Policy Support Government Dewi Fortuna Anwar said the government would halt plans Indonesia participation in TPP after President Donald Trump announced that the United States withdrew from the negotiations.

"That Mr. Vice President (Jusuf Kalla) said Indonesia was interested in joining the TPP, but if America itself had no TPP, should not be followed up," said Dewi, on Wednesday last week.

Related impact of US withdrawal from TPP towards the cooperation with Indonesia, Dewi said Indonesia only interested in joining the TPP because he saw a chance to compete in the wider market. Therefore, the cross-Pasifik trade cooperation, the position of Indonesia is still waiting for the position of other countries. "So now the focus is more to the bilateral cooperation of mutual benefit," said Dewi.

Tekstil Indonesia Diatas Angin

Total nilai ekspor tekstil mencapai 12,2 miliar dolar AS.

Bahkan, Indonesia sebel¬umnya tertarik masuk TPP.
