Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Central Java province states require 2,000 workers per year for the entire industry. "Even for this year could need up to 3,000 workers," said Chairman of the Central Java Apindo Frans Kongi .He said that, of all the needs of the workforce, approximately 70-80 percent of them are absorbed in the garment sector, while the rest is shared among several other sectors in textiles, furniture and shoes.

 

However, the total labor requirement is not absorbed in the same time but gradually.

 

"We did employment gradually because it has been difficult for companies gain skilled work force, especially for garment. So we have to educate them first," he explained.

 

To streamline the process of education for the workforce to be skilled, the company chose to open the job little by little.

 

Frans said, the time required to train to become skilled workers usually reaches 3-6 months. During this period, candidates for skilled labor even recently graduated SMK had mastered sewing techniques.

 

"Besides it takes time to educate, employment can not be done directly because of the condition of the business world is still difficult," he said.

 

According to him, the development of significant industries are not making employers less confident employed too many workers.

 

 

Apindo: Jateng Butuh 2.000 Tenaga Kerja/Tahun

 

 

Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (Apindo) Jawa Tengah menyatakan provinsi ini membutuhkan 2.000 tenaga kerja per tahun untuk seluruh sektor industri. "Bahkan untuk tahun ini kebutuhannya bisa sampai 3.000 tenaga kerja," kata Ketua Apindo Jawa Tengah Frans Kongi

 

Dia mengatakan, dari seluruh kebutuhan tenaga kerja tersebut, sekitar 70-80 persen di antaranya terserap di sektor garmen, sedangkan sisanya terbagi di beberapa sektor lain di antaranya tekstil, mebel, dan sepatu.

 

Meski demikian, total kebutuhan tenaga kerja tersebut tidak diserap dalam waktu yang bersamaan melainkan secara bertahap.

 

"Kami melakukan penyerapan tenaga kerja secara bertahap karena selama ini sulit bagi perusahaan memperoleh tenaga kerja yang terampil, terutama untuk garmen. Jadi kami harus mendidik mereka terlebih dahulu," jelas dia.

 

Untuk mengefektifkan proses pendidikan bagi tenaga kerja agar terampil, perusahaan memilih untuk membuka lowongan kerja sedikit demi sedikit.

 

Frans mengatakan, waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk mendidik tenaga kerja hingga menjadi terampil biasanya mencapai 3-6 bulan. Dalam kurun waktu tersebut, calon tenaga kerja terampil bahkan yang baru saja lulus SMK sudah bisa menguasai teknik menjahit.

 

"Selain dibutuhkan waktu untuk mendidik, penyerapan tenaga kerja tidak dapat dilakukan secara langsung karena kondisi dunia usaha saat ini masih sulit," katanya.

 

Menurut dia, perkembangan industri yang belum signifikan membuat pengusaha tidak percaya diri mempekerjakan terlalu banyak tenaga kerja.
