South Pacific Viscose (SPV) is exploring the expansion of its plant in Indonesia. The Austria-based company plans to build a plant fiber (fiber) of high-tech in the country with an investment of US $ 300 million. Director General of Chemical Industry, Textile and Miscellaneous (IKTA) The Ministry of Industry (Ministry of Industry) Achmad Sigit Dwiwahjono said currently a subsidiary of the Lenzing Group has had fiber factory in Indonesia with a production capacity of 300 thousand tons. If so to expand, the total production increased to 600 thousand tons.

"There is a possibility to invest, in the area of staple fibers. They expansion. Current capacity is 300 thousand tons, wanted to build a new plant. So approximately 600 thousand tons," he said at the Ministry of Industry (Ministry of Industry), Jakarta, Wednesday (8/3 / 2017).

Sigit said fibers with high technology is usually used as raw material for the textile industry. Currently, Indonesia has not been able to produce fibers with this type.

"We have not been able to production, this new technology so it would have been very nice. During this time we import. It was for textile, garment, shirts, Kleenex. (What has been produced) Viscose fiber, but not of this quality. Still usual . If that is the high grade, "he said.

If the SPV will be to expand the factory, then the fiber product produced will be destined for export markets. This is because the demand for these products abroad is very high, while demand in Indonesia is still very small.

"The possibility of 90 percent for export because demand here is not great. But there demand. But surely if they knew no industry here certainly run into here. If exports to the United States, Europe, Japan. It's traditional market our textiles, "he explained.

However, other than in Indonesia, the current SPV is also exploring investment opportunities in Thailand. If you get an offer that is more attractive, could have SPV choose Thailand as an investment location of the factory's expansion.

"But it has not been decided. There are two country, if not Indonesia, Thailand yes. (The decision) this year, 3 months to be decided. We wish to enter Indonesia. If it comes in, it strengthens the structure of our textile industry. That was mediocre course, we will be the production of the fabrics are high grade, "said Sigit.

For SPV willing to invest in Indonesia, continued Sigit, said it is offering some kind of incentive, one of them a tax holiday. With an investment of US $ 300 million, then the SPV rated eligible for these tax incentives.

"If you look at their investment of US $ 300 million, the course they are entitled to make tax holiday. Because the rules are right when Rp 100 billion already can, if in textiles. And if employees more than 100 people also can tax holiday," he said.
