The global testing, inspection, certification and training provider TÜV SÜD in partnership with the German Investment & Development Corporation DEG, wrap up a 15-month TÜV SÜD-DEG TripleC (C-Dialogue Competence Competitive) Green Business Training Program to provide local textile and footwear companies in Indonesia with technical knowledge in Energy

The program gives a hands-on training in energy efficiency, carbon footprint, life cycle analysis of textile/footwear products, as well as alternative options like solar energy. The training modules were shared with 80 participating companies across the supply chain in West and Central Java.

The expected results include a potential reduction in energy consumption of up to 15%-35%.  The measures are expected to enhance the companies’ performance in improving their profitability and staying competitive.  In addition, they are able to leverage on their green and sustainable brand value including reference to international industry standards such as ISO 14025 and ISO/TS 14067.

“TÜV SÜD recognizes the fact that rising electricity tariffs for textile and footwear industries is a serious concern for companies’ competitiveness. The training program is designed to help companies address such concerns in the manufacturing process and to find effective solutions,” explained President Director of PT TÜV SÜD Indonesia, Mr. Eric Paulsen.

“Our training program allows local textile and footwear companies to get the latest updates and insights on green business practices and industry standards. Subsequently, the program identifies operational inefficiencies, shortcomings and potential risks in the industry, while equipping organisations with a step-by-step guideline to meet their respective needs,” said Arief Hendra Ariyana, Deputy General Manager, PT TÜV SÜD Indonesia.

The project was very well-received by participants. Mr. Ramli from PT Panarub testified that after attending the training, they estimated to save up to US$ 50K of electricity bill per annum. On top of that, some pilot companies start to head towards alternative energy such as Photovoltaics.
