Textile Products Export is only 1 Percent PDF Print E-mail

The value of exports of textile or apparel products in recent years has continued to decline. Small and medium business actors (SMEs) are encouraged to be able to make specific products according to market needs in export destination countries.

Based on data from the Ministry of Trade, the current export value of textile products is only USD 11.9 billion. This value is lower than in 2013 which still revolves around USD 13.2 billion. To improve this condition, the ministry seeks to assist SMEs to be more ready for export.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat said each country has a character, even a different climate. Seeing the differences in characters in each country, of course, the textile and fashion products needed by the community are also different.

With the provision for SMEs, it is expected that they can understand the characteristics of the people in an export destination country. "In fact, we invite parties from Canada to provide demographic and geographical information. So we can prepare textile products that demand the Canadian community, "said Ade after the Workshop on Export of Textile Products / Apparel to Canada yesterday.

Ade acknowledged, so far export to Canada is still very low. That is, about 1 percent compared to exports to other countries. In fact, the potential market there is still very good if worked seriously.

Although not the majority of tastes, but not a few Canadian people who love fashion ethnic nuances. This potential is very workable SMEs in Solo which on average also produces ethnic-style clothing.

Ekspor Produk Tekstil hanya 1 Persen
