Sritex Not Affected by Textile Exports PDF Print E-mail

Indonesia's Textile and Textile Production (TPT) exports in the world continues to decline. From 2.13 percent in 2001 to 1.56 percent in 2015. Compared to Vietnam and Bangladesh which control 3.62 percent and 4.05 percent, TPT market share in the world of Indonesia is still losing.

This however does not apply with Sritex. When the textile industry is sluggish, the sales target of 2017 is up seven to eight percent both for domestic and export markets.

This is said by Vice President of PT Sritex Solo, Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto, on the sidelines of opening a fine art exhibition Representation by 27 artists in Pendhapa Art Space, Yogya, Saturday (6/5) night.

"Currently we serve exports to more than 100 countries, and most of Europe, including serving the manufacture of clothing for the military," he said.

Iwan asserted, the textile industry in Indonesia need not fear, because the share in the country itself is very large with 250 million inhabitants. In addition, the textile industry is closely related to one's emotions. For example when the Lebaran, then there is the desire to wear new clothes. With so automatic demand for clothing is also sharply increased.

"So in fact to meet the domestic market itself is quite large export jam," said Iwan.

It's just that unfortunately, according to Iwan, in the country must also compete with imported clothing products from China and India whose price is also cheaper. The price can be cheap, Iwan said, because the quality is low in addition to those who enter illegally do not pay taxes.

Therefore, to boost the domestic market, said Iwan, the government must make strict rules about importing clothing from abroad and strict sanctions to importers.

"I am grateful that in the era of Jokowi-JK government has blocked and confiscated imported clothing from China that is clearly illegal," he said.

Sritex Tak Terpengaruh Lesunya Ekspor Tekstil
