Trump Policy For Indonesian Textile Industry PDF Print E-mail
Written by Maizer

National textile industry again seen improvement from the export side. Crossing in the first quarter of 2017 an export increase of about 3 percent to USD 2 billion. This achievement is very potential.Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat said one of the factors improving the performance of the textile industry is due to the decision of the United States government Donald Trump out of the trade union Trans Pasific Partnership (TPP). Consequently, import subsidies to the US are generalized with products from other countries.

"The policy taken by the new US government out of the TPP is certainly a blessing for Indonesia." Indonesian products are thus equated with foreign products, "said

According to Ade, positive performance for this labor-intensive sector occurs in the export of apparel and garment. But for textile products still shows the weakening number. Want optimistic if until the end of the year textile industry exports could penetrate the level of USD 12 billion.

"We can optimistically reach 12 billion more until the end of 2017 although global market conditions today are not much better yet 2 to 3 years ago, the global market is still depressed," he continued.

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) from January to April 2017 then buy more textile export market to China at a price of USD 6.264 million. Then followed to the US with export value reached USD 5.648 million and India amounted to 4.596 million.

Ade stated that the textile industry is still faced with several classic issues such as the increase of UMR which is changing every year. This is one of the things that will derail the income projection if the entrepreneurs do not make some efficiency and increase their productivity.

Therefore, the API has long tried to anticipate production efficiency with its production centers. Originally if production is done in the vicinity of the capital city ascertained the cost of production will swell. Currently there are still many textile industries around Jakarta, but quite relieved because at the same time also many entrepreneurs who have relocated to other areas with a smaller production costs.

"First Sukoharjo, Solo then Wonogiri then the bigger one in Boyolali and next Ungaran and Bawen in Semarang regency We start to focus on western part of Central Java that is Kendal and Tegal," he concluded.

Kebijakan Trump Untuk Industri Tekstil Indonesia
