The citizens of Federation Saint Christopher and Nevis, an island nation in the Caribbean, admire and interest batik which is the cultural heritage of Indonesia and want to live it.

 

 

"We just admire it, because it will not only bring in batik experts from Indonesia, but also increase the import of textiles of this type of batik," said Governor General of Saint Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis, Samuel Weymouth Tapley Seaton, through the press broadcast Embassy of Colombia , On Saturday.

 

Tapley Seaton said, the price is very high for Indonesia to have a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a foothold for the improvement of trade relations and batik is quite a lot and quality.

 

"We will follow up the cooperation offer set forth in the MoU draft, because the trade of Kitts and Nevis with Indonesia, especially the type of motor vehicle trend up," he said.

 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis Priyo Iswanto added, in order to increase economic cooperation, and culture has been updated batik experts from Indonesia to teach the artists from the country.

Tapley Seaton menyebutkan, pihaknya sangat menghargai tawaran Indonesia agar ada nota kesepahaman (MoU) sebagai pijakan meningkatkan hubungan dagang dan investasi khususnya produk kendaraan bermotor dan kain jenis batik yang ragamnya cukup banyak dan bermutu.

 

"Kami akan menindak lanjuti tawaran kerjasama yang dituangkan dalam draf MoU, karena perdagangan Kitts dan Nevis dengan Indonesia khususnya jenis kendaraan bermotor trennya naik," katanya.

 

Duta Besar Luar Biasa dan Berkuasa Penuh RI untuk Federasi St. Kitts dan Nevis Priyo Iswanto menambahkan, dalam rangka peningkatan kerja sama ekonomi, dan kebudayaan pihaknya telah mendatangkan ahli batik dari Indonesia guna mengajari para seniman dari negara itu.

 

"Kita akan buka workshop beberapa hari agar ada pemahaman soal batik dan ragamnya dari Indonesia," katanya.

 

Dubes juga menyampaikan, selain itu pihaknya juga melakukan pertemuan dengan Presiden Kamar Dagang dan Industri St. Kitts dan Nevis, Jose Rosa.

 

Pada pertemuan itu ia mengundang para pengusaha St. Kitts dan Nevis untuk menjajaki peluang bisnis dengan Indonesia dengan menghadiri pameran Trade Expo Indonesia, bulan Oktober 2017.

 

Bahkan pejabat Kitts, juga sepakat perlunya ada Memorandum of Understanding antara Kadin kedua negara untuk meningkatkan kontak bisnis antara Indonesia dan St. Kitts dan Nevis, kata Priyo.

 

Dikatakan, hubungan diplomatik Indonesia dengan St. Kitts dan Nevis dimulai secara resmi pada 30 Januari tahun 2014 dengan ditandatanganinya Komunike Bersama Pembukaan Hubungan Diplomatik di New York, Amerika Serikat.

 

Terkait itu, mengutip data BPS RI mencatat total perdagangan kedua negara mencapai 966 ribu dolar AS pada tahun 2016, yang didominasi oleh ekspor Indonesia.

 

Produk ekspor Indonesia antara lain, kendaraan bermotor beserta suku cadangnya, mebel dan produk furnitur lainnya, busana wanita dan aksesoris pakaian lainnya.

 

Peluang produk Indonesia yang dapat dipasarkan di St. Kitts dan Nevis antara lain investasi industri perhotelan dan pariwisata, industri spa dan perawatan tubuh, mebel dan perabotan untuk perhotelan dan rumah tinggal, pesawat terbang sebagai moda transportasi jarak pendek antarpulau, dan busana batik pantai yang cocok dengan iklim tropis di kawasan Karibia.

 

Di akhir penutupannya, Priyo mengatakan, Indonesia memandang penting St. Kitts dan Nevis Untuk itu ia akan terus berupaya mendekatkan kedua bangsa melalui interaksi "people to people contact" yang dapat dikembangkan melalui kerja sama ekonomi, seni dan budaya, seperti pelatihan seni membatik.
