The development of Indonesian textile industry, compared to other countries can still be said far from expectations. There is a lot of homework and cooperation of many parties to be more advanced in the future.

Reflect from the Indian state, for example. The most populous country in the world is to form a special Ministry that deals with Textiles. India also became one of the manufacturers for the fabrics used by major labels of the world. In fact, international designers mentioned have a workshop in the country.

The expression was delivered fashion designer Didiet Maulana, in Jakarta. The fashion designer of the Ikat Indonesia label recently attended a conference titled Textiles India 2017, at the weekend in Gujarat, India. He became one of the speakers besides invitations from other countries, such as the Ministry of Industry of Myanmar, several CEOs of ASEAN textile practitioners, and the Ministry of ASEAN countries.

Didiet said, in a joint occasion with representatives from various countries, he gave an overview and challenges facing the textile industry in Indonesia.

"Government support is actually quite large, and business people have seen this potential, it's just that there are still many things that have not been synergized and exciting," he said.

For the development of textiles, for example. There is the Ministry of Industry and Bekraf that gives more attention. However, hopefully, these two agencies should collaborate with practitioners in this case the designers, because they know best the ins and outs of fashion and the textile industry.

"Instead of government agencies doing research on how to develop it, it is better for practitioners who go directly," he added.

In addition, other challenges that deserve more attention are the local craftsmen and the quality of the fabric. Didiet suggests if there is one door that shade and help the craftsmen so as to produce quality fabrics.

"Another issue is that not many young people are interested in the textile world, and this is a challenge in itself," he said.

Didiet saw the continuity of the cloth is not less important with the fashion show on the runway.
