API: Textile Industry Entrepreneurs Divert Domestic Market PDF Print E-mail

The Indonesian Textile Association (API) of Semarang City says textile entrepreneurs are shifting the market domestically in line with the sluggish global market demand.

"Since last year until now the global market conditions, especially from the demand side of textile commodities has not fully improved," said API Chairman of Semarang Agung Wahono in Semarang, Monday (7/24/2017)

According to him, the condition has not improved because of the unstable economic conditions in some countries last year. Nevertheless, he said, the condition this year has been better than the previous year.

"Last year, the economic turmoil in the United States with some countries in Europe is catching up, while America and some countries in Europe are still a big export destination for the textile industry from Central Java," he said.

He said the condition eventually forced some entrepreneurs to increase sales in the country.

"In fact, if the demand for textile commodities in the country is still safe, people's purchasing power is still stable," he said.

However, there are some companies that are trying to explore new export markets, one of which is some countries in Africa.

He said the effort is not easy to do considering different countries different policies implemented, including policies on the import of goods.

"If in the United States or in Europe we are normal, if in Africa a lot of unusual, with this condition means that the risk must be also quite large," he said.

Previously, Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Central Java Province stated in June 2017 export of Central Java reached 409.61 million US dollars (US) or decreased by 25.16 percent compared to May 2010 exports reached 547.33 million US dollars.

Head of BPS Central Java Province Margo Yuwono as quoted by Antara, said the country's main export market of Central Java in the month is still the same as the previous month, namely the United States.

In terms of commodities, textiles and textile goods still dominate by contributing 41.41 percent with an export value of 186.19 million US dollars.

"Hopefully this decline is only due to Lebaran last month, is expected to start next month the conditions will be better," he said.

API: Pengusaha Sektor Tekstil Alihkan Pasar Dalam Negeri
