Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat said that the government's policy to release energy commodities to the market price caused a huge burden for the textile industry. Practically, the increase in electricity tariff structure makes the production cost also increase. So also with the rationalization of fuel prices to make transportation costs go up.

The rising industrial expenses are exacerbated by the global market demand for textile products which also declined due to the unfavorable global economy. According to him, demand for the textile industry fell from US $ 13 billion to US $ 11.8 billion. This condition is enough to inhibit the textile industry to grow.

"We have predicted since the president announced that all electricity or fuel subsidies will be withdrawn by the government, meaning that the money from the community will be lost, will be withdrawn by PLN and Pertamina at least Rp 500 trillion, this means that the purchasing power of the people will decrease," Ade told reporters In Jakarta, Thursday (07/20/2017).

Another problem, continued Ade, which makes the textile industry in Indonesia is less able to compete with foreign textile industry such as Vietnam and others due to bureaucracy is still convoluted. It is rare for governments to provide quick solutions when problems arise in the industry. Mechanisms and bureaucracies that must involve the DPR take a long time. While business actors are in desperate need of a way out of various problems that twist this sector

"Vietnam can be more advanced because there is one party there, we have a lot of parties so to reach the decision must be long-winded. This is the weakness that we have to admit, "he said.

However, Ade is still grateful in the midst of problems in the textile industry, this year there is still a slight increase in growth compared to last year. In the first half of 2017 there was an increase in demand for the textile industry by 0.6%.

"Our strategy (facing a slowdown in growth) is to push exports even though global markets are pressing down, in America in Japan and Europe down, but thank God even though our small is still up," he concluded.

Daya Beli Masyarakat Turun, Pengusaha Tekstil Harus Kreatif

Menurutnya, permintaan industri tekstil turun dari US$ 13 miliar turun menjadi US$ 11,8 miliar.
