Textile manufacturers are starting to increase investment in the first half of this year by enlarging installed capacity. Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association Ade Sudrajat said at least two big companies boosted their investment in the first half.

Both companies are the main proponents of the surge in investment realization of the textile industry. "Mainly because of the Sateri Group's new investment in Riau and Sritex expansion in Central Java," he said.

The Investment Coordinating Board noted that the realization of investment in the textile industry reached Rp7.47 trillion in the first half of 2017. A total of Rp 5.02 trillion is domestic investment, while the remaining US $ 184.3 million or equivalent to Rp 2.45 trillion is foreign investment.

The realization of investment in the textile industry in the first half of this year jumped 46% compared to the first half of last year valued at Rp 5.09 trillion. A total of Rp2.71 trillion of which is domestic investment, while foreign direct investment reached US $ 179.36 million or equivalent to Rp 2.38 trillion. That is, the increase in realization of investment is not only happening to domestic investment but also on foreign investment.

According to Ade, PT Sateri Viscose International started to operate a rayon fiber factory with a large capacity in Riau. The plant operates as many as 1 million spinning eyes on the new facility. Meanwhile, other textile manufacturers also operate one of the largest dying and finishing plants in Sukoharjo. Ade estimates investment on both projects that are worth trillions of rupiah.

Ade predicts the realization of textile investment at the end of the year can exceed Rp10 trillion. Because there is one manufacturer who has committed to realize investment in the second half of this year. "There is one company that play in dyeing and finishing also has a new investment commitment in West Java, approximately Rp2trillion. Maybe it can be realized in the second half of this year, "he said.

According to him, the textile industry began expanding the plant as anticipated again to improve the demand. "Our projection that the market is improving again, but maybe not next semester or 2018. All are optimistic 2019 market has returned to good, demand back up, purchasing power increases. Then some have started trying to increase capacity. "

The Ministry of Industry projects the growth of the textile industry by 1.6% -1.8% this year. The textile industry sector contributed US $ 11.87 billion worth of foreign exchange last year, or 8.2 percent of total exports in 2016.

Semester I, Realisasi Investasi Pabrikan Tekstil Naik 46%
