Hundreds of textile industries in West Java feared the availability of industrial salt, following a scarcity of local salt stocks in recent days. The Indonesian Textile Association (API) explained that some textile industries admitted misgivings, following news of the lack of local salt stock.

API Secretary General Kevin Hartanto said they fear the lack of salt stock inhibits the dyeing process for polyester and cotton fabrics. "In Jabar, the textile industry, which has made hundreds of dyeing processes, is worried that the government can not meet the needs of industrial salt," said Kevin in Bandung, Wednesday (2/8/2017).

According to him, salt becomes an important process in the textile industry. Salt becomes a mixture in the dyeing process, especially cotton cloth. As for the polister cloth, the need for salt is not too large. Without salt, the dyeing process can not be done.

Further explained the stock of industrial salt differs from one company to another. Large scale industries, usually enough salt availability for the next few months. But the medium and small textile industries, usually stock capability only one or two months.

West Java, is now a place of national textile and textile industry (TPT). Some areas of textile industry in West Java among them exist in Bandung highway, such as Rancaekek, Majalaya, and West Bandung.

"Some textile entrepreneurs are calling me, they are wary the government has not been able to meet the needs of salt that is currently scarce, that is, their salt stocks are running thin, do not let this continue and the industry can not produce," he explained.

During this time, he added, the textile industry gets salt supply from local businessmen. They have never received imported salt. So they are worried that the plan to import salt to be done by the government does not immediately meet the needs of the industry.

Ratusan Industri Tekstil Terimbas Kelangkaan Garam

Ratusan industri tekstil di Jawa Barat mengkhawatirkan ketersediaan garam industri, menyusul kelangkaan stok garam lokal dalam beberapa hari terakhir. Asosiasi Pertekstilan Indonesia (API) menerangkan sejumlah industri tekstil mengaku was-was, pasca maraknya pemberitaan minimnya stok garam lokal.
