Bilateral agreements between Indonesia and the United States are considered capable of increasing national textile and textile product exports doubled within five years.

"If there is a bilateral, it will boost our exports twice in five years," said Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

Ade said, the value of Indonesia's exports of TPT products to America today amounted to 4 billion US dollars. So with the agreement, its value is predicted to increase up to 8 billion US dollars.

In addition to rising exports, continued Ade, bilateral agreements with Uncle Sam's country will open up to 2 million new jobs.

"Of course the main thing is the absorption of labor that will increase to two million people from various sectors, ranging from apparel, yarn to fabric," said Ade.

According to Ade, America is a potential market, because of high purchasing power and a lot of people.

Known, the Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto encouraged bilateral agreements between Indonesia and the United States to increase the export of Indonesia's textile industry to the country led by Donald Trump.

"Currently, our textile products are subject to 12.5 percent import duty, while Vietnam is zero percent due to the agreement of both countries, so the agreement will also boost the competitiveness of our products," Airlangga said.

According to the Director General for Endurance and Development of International Industrial Access (KPAII) Harjanto, to develop trade and investment relations between Indonesia and US, there is a Ministerial Trade Council (TIC) forum to discuss and resolve various trade and investment issues between the two countries.

"TIC consists of four Working Groups, namely WG on Industrial and Agricultural Products, WG on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade, WG on Intellectual Property Rights, and WG on Investment," he said.

In its development, continued Harjanto, RI and the US have agreed to establish Commercial Dialogue (CD) as a complement to cooperative food that has been there.

Perjanjian bilateral Indonesia-AS tingkatkan ekspor industri TPT

"TIC terdiri dari empat Working Group, yaitu WG on Industrial and Agricultural Products, WG on Illegal Logging and Associated Trade, WG on Intellectual Property Rights, dan WG on Investment," ungkapnya.
