Indonesia and Singapore Strengthen Diplomacy Through Fashion PDF Print E-mail

Half a century of diplomatic relations in the field of trade commemorated Indonesia and Singapore in the event mat Rising 50. Both countries have made cooperation in various industries, not least fashion. In an effort to strengthen cooperation in the industry, both countries are partnering with local designers to join Rising Fashion, presented by Digital Fashion Week 2017.


Rising Fashion brought together 12 local designers in the Pop Up shop in Galleries Lafayette, Pacific Place, Jakarta. Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Ngurah Swajaya in Jakarta, Tuesday (01/08/2017) said it aims to promote the fashion industry of both countries.


"The 50-year momentum of trade diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Singapore should be used to enhance cooperation between the two countries. Collaboration in Rising Fashion will strengthen the fashion industry of both countries, especially in ASEAN, "explained Ngurah.


He explained that the achievement of cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore last year was quite astonishing. The reason, in the middle of the world economic conditions are less good, and foreign investment in various countries tend to weaken, Indonesia actually grows 40% within nine months in 2016 compared to 2015.


The collaboration project supported by the Embassy of Indonesia with the Federation of Textiles and Fashion in Singapore, and the Singapore Embassy in Indonesia will be a new step for both countries to strengthen their fashion industry.


There are 12 local designers who collaborate on the title Rising Fashion, namely Amanda Rahardjo, Calla Atelier, Chainless Brain, Collate The Label, Island Shop, The Mindful Company, Natalia Kiantoro, Queenmark, Our Second nature, Sav Lavin, State Property, and Salient Labels .


Digital Fashion Week Managing Director Charina Widjaja said, Rising Fashion as a form of campaign from DFW 2017 can bridge Indonesian designers drove into the global market. "This activity certainly can develop the potential of designers as well as a marketing arena of both countries," said Charina.


The work of local designers from Indonesia and Singapore will be displayed during August 2017 at Pop Up Galleries Lafayette store, Pacific Place Jakarta


Indonesia dan Singapura Perkuat Diplomasi Lewat Fesyen



Setengah abad menjalin hubungan diplomatik di bidang perdagangan diperingati Indonesia dan Singapura dalam gelaran acara Rising 50. Kedua negara telah melakukan kerja sama dalam berbagai industri, tak terkecuali fesyen. Sebagai upaya memperkuat kerja sama dalam industri ini, kedua negara menggandeng desainer lokal untuk bergabung dalam Rising Fashion yang dipresentasikan oleh Digital Fashion Week 2017.


Gelaran Rising Fashion mempertemukan 12 desainer lokal dalam toko Pop Up di Galleries Lafayette, Pacific Place, Jakarta. Duta Besar Indonesia untuk Singapura Ngurah Swajaya di Jakarta, Selasa (01/08/2017) mengatakan, hal ini bertujuan untuk mempromosikan industri fesyen kedua negara.


“Momentum 50 tahun hubungan diplomatik bidang perdagangan antara Indonesia dan Singapura ini harus dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan kerja sama antar kedua negara. Kolaborasi dalam Rising Fashion akan memperkuat industri fesyen kedua negara, terutama di ASEAN,” jelas Ngurah.


Ia menjelaskan, pencapaian kerja sama Indonesia dan Singapura pada tahun lalu cukup mencengangkan. Pasalnya, di tengah kondisi perekonomian dunia yang kurang baik, serta investasi asing di berbagai negara yang cenderung melemah, Indonesia justru bertumbuh 40% dalam waktu sembilan bulan di tahun 2016 dibandingkan tahun 2015.


Proyek kolaborasi yang didukung Kedutaan Besar Indonesia bersama Federasi Tekstil dan Mode di Singapura, serta Kedutaan Besar Singapura di Indonesia ini akan menjadi langkah baru bagi kedua negara untuk memperkuat industri fesyen mereka.

Managing Director Digital Fashion Week Charina Widjaja menuturkan, Rising Fashion sebagai bentuk kampanye dari DFW 2017 dapat menjembatani desainer Indonesia melaju ke pasar global. “Kegiatan ini tentunya dapat mengembangkan potensi para desainer sekaligus menjadi ajang pemasaran dari kedua negara,” terang Charina.


Karya para desainer lokal asal Indonesia dan Singapura ini akan ditampilkan selama bulan Agustus 2017 di toko Pop Up Galleries Lafayette, Pacific Place Jakarta
