Textile and textile industry (TPT) players are asking the government to expand trade agreements with other countries in order to improve export performance.

Iswar Deni, Corporate Secretary of PT Pan Brothers Tbk., Said that Indonesia's TPT exports are still small compared to other countries. Last year, the national textile industry exports accounted for 1.8% of the world textile market and is expected to be the 5% supplier of world textile needs by 2030.

"With the free trade agreement, the export is easier and the price of Indonesian products can compete because the current import duties to other countries can range from 8% to 30%," he said in Jakarta.

Issuer with share codes PBRX is a textile company that interest. As many as 95% to 97% of its products are shipped abroad. Irwan said the current global demand is increasing so that companies dare to set a growth target of 10% to 15% on an annual basis.

Pan Brothers products are mostly shipped to Asian countries with a share of 56%, followed by American countries of 26%, and to European countries. Irwan also hopes the government prioritizes the textile industry considering the sector is absorbing a lot of manpower.

This year, the company will add two subsidiary factories, PT Eco Smart Garment Indonesia, with additional capacity of 21 million pieces per year, bringing its total capacity to 48 million pieces per year. This factory has started commercial production next year.

In addition, by 2018, Pan Brothers has also added capacity with the construction of a new plant below. PT. Teodore Pan Garmindo in Tasikmalaya and targeted by the end of 2018. The factory has an installed capacity of 6 million pieces of garment per year.

"The installed capacity for our garment by the end of 2017 will increase from 90 million per year to 111 million pieces per year, next year to 117 million pieces of garment per year," he said.

Ade Sudrajat, Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), previously said that free trade negotiations, particularly with the European Union, can be issued in 2019, national textile industry exports are projected to rise to 100% within 4 years. Employment in this sector will also increase.

He mentioned that the import duty of Indonesian textile products exports to the United States is subject to 12.5%, in the direction of up to 16%. Export to Vietnam and America is 0%.

"The producers also hope that by 2019 infrastructure development will feel the impact there is a multiplier effect to lift the purchasing power of the people and the domestic textile industry," said Ade.

Data referred to growth II / 2017 reached 3.65%. This growth occurred in the previous quarter by 0.16%.

Pebisnis Tekstil Minta Pemerintah Perbanyak FTA
