Being one of the supporters of the workforce in Indonesia, textile and textile products (TPT) actually experienced ups and downs. Had experienced an increase in exports in 2013, TPT exports actually declined for three consecutive years from 2014-2016. Year 2017 then became the momentum of the revival of this industry as the prime donor of the largest national gross domestic income (GDP).

Launched comtrade.un.org Indonesia's export value of textile and textile products during 2012-2016 reached US $ 82,637,536,397. The period of 2012 to 2013 is arguably the highest jump in exports from US $ 5,986,290,899 soaring to US $ 16,539,930,393 in 2013.

The dark period began in 2014 where the value of textile exports actually decreased to US $ 16,849,260,140. The following year the value of exports declined by US $ 16,790,003,812, and in 2016 it again declined to US $ 16,472,051,153.

This growth rate is actually not very influential on the value of TPT industry that is donated to the national GDP. Although fluctuating, at least from 2010, the GDP value of TPT is always above Rp80 trillion. Until 2016, the Ministry of Industry stated that the textile industry contributes 2.43% of the national GDP. The percentage of this contribution is increasing compared to 2015 when TPT only contributed 1.22% to the national GDP.

Data from the Indonesian Textile Association (API) illustrates the situation, where from early 2015 to mid 2015, there are at least 60 textile factories in Majalaya who are forced to lay off their employees.

However, optimism of TPT industry revival was conveyed by Chairman of Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat. He mentioned that about 5896 textile and textile product industries are operating in Indonesia. This amount is said to increase from the previous only around 5800s.

"The number is 5896 companies now. Increasing rather than diminishing, "said Ade

Pasang Surut Ekspor Tekstil

Menjadi salah satu penopang tenaga kerja di Indonesia, industri tekstil dan produk tekstil (TPT) justru mengalami pasang surut. Sempat mengalami peningkatan ekspor di tahun 2013, ekspor TPT  malah menurun selama tiga tahun berturut-turut sejak 2014-2016. Tahun 2017 kemudian menjadi momentum kebangkitan industri ini sebagai primadona penyumbang terbesar pendapatan domestik bruto (PDB) nasional.

Melansir situs comtrade.un.org nilai ekspor Indonesia atas tekstil dan produk tekstil sepanjang 2012-2016 mencapai US$82.637.536.397. Periode tahun 2012 ke tahun 2013 boleh dibilang mengalami  lompatan tertinggi ekspor dari US$5.986.290.899 melonjak ke angka US$16.539.930.393 di tahun 2013.

Masa kelam dimulai tahun 2014 dimana nilai ekspor TPT justru mengalami penurunan menjadi US$16.849.260.140. Setahun berikutnya nilai ekspor kembali menurun US$16.790.003.812, dan di tahun 2016 lagi-lagi menurun menjadi US$16.472.051.153.

Namun optimisme kebangkitan industri TPT disampaikan Ketua Asosiasi Pertekstilan Indonesia (API) Ade Sudrajat. Ia menyebut saat ini sekitar 5896 industri tekstil dan produk tekstil beroperasi di Indonesia. Jumlah ini disebutnya bertambah dari sebelumnya hanya berkisar 5800-an.

“Jumlahnya 5896 perusahaan sekarang. Bertambah bukannya berkurang,” kata Ade
