Textile Industry Begins Enjoying Sales Increase PDF Print E-mail

The textile industry began to enjoy an increase in sales in August after the government sought to combat bulk imports. API noted almost for 2 months this national industrial sales has been absorbed by the domestic market.

Ade Sudrajat, Chair of the Indonesian Textile Association (API), said the textile and textile products industry (TPT) increased significantly in August as the Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders succeeded in halting bulk imports.

"Since August until now TPT sales are controlled by us [the national industry] .The sales increase is almost 15% in August compared to the same month last year," he said.

He added that the increase that occurred in August is equivalent to sales of TPT in peak season which every year falls on the moment of Lebaran.

"This year's Idul Fitri, which falls in July, is not as good as last year, but the demand for August is better compared to the Idul Fitri," he said.

According to him, conditions conducive to the sales of the textile industry are expected to continue until the end of the year so that the sales of TPT re-excited like a few years ago. He expects the government to consistently crack down on bulk imports.

"The value of TPT transactions in this country is almost Rp100 trillion, while currently we only get Rp30 trillion - Rp40 trillion, hope we can get almost half," said Ade.

He also explained that Tanah Abang Market which is one of the selling centers of textile products is still difficult to get taxable businessmen (PKP).

"Most of the Tanah Abang businessmen do not yet have a trade license (SIUP) and a sign of the company list (TDP), which makes it difficult to get PKP," he said.

In addition, there are other requirements for obtaining PFM as land should be on behalf of the owner of the premises, whereas the majority rent from other people or managers. He admitted the API has asked the government to find a way out of the problem of PKP.

Ade explained in addition to the restrictions on the import of regulation bundles concerning seepage from bonded areas need to be kept under surveillance.

Such supervision is to restore the function of bonded zones that should be export-oriented textile producers.

"Do not let bonded areas sell to the domestic market because they have got more competitive prices for raw materials compared to others," he explained.

Industri Tekstil Mulai Nikmati Kenaikan Penjualan
