Textile Raw Materials Manufacturing Optimistic Welcoming the New Year PDF Print E-mail

Indonesian Filament and Fiber Producers Association (APSyFI) sees next year more optimistic. APSyFI Secretary General Redma Gita Wirawasta said the optimism was driven by government policies to tighten import volume and improved domestic demand.

Despite the re-opening of bulk imports through Permendag 64 of 2017, the effect on national textile manufacturers is not great as the imported raw material must be imported through a bonded logistic center (PLB) and remain taxable which makes the price of imported products expensive.

"The first and second quarters of next year should be better compared to the same period in 2017 because the impact of tightening the import of new bulk was felt in the third and fourth quarter of 2017," he said.

Domestic demand will also be hoisted by the momentum of local elections (pilkada) that many need t-shirts for the campaign. Lebaran next year is also expected to lift domestic demand.

In Lebaran last year, the textile industry did not enjoy the growth of domestic demand because Hari Raya fell in the second quarter and was unable to compete with imported products.

"Next year should be the momentum of Lebaran." Throughout the year could be more than 3%, as long as the government consistently tightens imports, "said Redma.

Meanwhile, this year, the growth of the textile industry is driven by rising domestic demand and exports, especially in the final quarter. Global demand for upstream and downstream products, continued Redma, grew in the 5% range.

Pabrikan Bahan Baku Tekstil Optimistis Sambut Tahun Baru
