Import Banned to China From 1 January 2018 PDF Print E-mail

China began on January 1, 2018 to ban imports of some types of waste from abroad, including plastics, paper, and textiles.

The move is an effort to reduce pollution and improve public health. Where ttotal of 24 types of waste from abroad is prohibited from entering the country.

Over the past few years, China has been a major destination for the world's waste, but much of the imported waste is classified as environmentally hazardous and even dangerous.

Since the 1980s, as reported by Hong Kong's Hong Kong-based Hong Kong Morning Post, China is the world's biggest garbage importer. In 2012, about 56? Ri of plastic waste exported worldwide, landed in China. Other figures obtained by the BBC show in 2016, China imported 7.3 million plastic waste from developed countries, including Britain, the United States and Japan.

The measures taken by the Beijing government not only shook the countries that have sent large amounts of their waste to China, but also the multibillion-dollar waste and recycling industry.

Britain is one of the importers of plastics to China and the policy that came into effect by 2018 is clearly a major impact, as recognized by Simon Elin of the UK's recycling association.

"We are dependent on China for a long time and the volume of our material, 55% percent paper, and 25% more plastic. We do not have a well established market in the UK so we are very dependent on export markets, so that means a major change for the industry we are, "he explained.

Larangan Import Ke China Mulai 1 Januari 2018

Sejak tahun 1980-an, seperti dilaporkan koran South China Morning Post terbitan Hong Kong, China adalah pengimpor terbesar sampah dunia.
