Electricity Tariff Increases, Here The Response Of The Textile Industry PDF Print E-mail

The Indonesian Textile Association (API) said that the electricity tariff increase has the potential to erode the productivity of the textile sector and its derivative products. Therefore, the use of electricity in the process of textile production is large enough, so that many producers will not be strong bear the burden of operating costs are soaring high.

General Chairman of API Ade Sudrajat said, many textile industry that closed last year only because of not strong bear the burden of electricity is more expensive.

According to Ade, the electricity load in the upstream textile industry ranges from 25 percent to 28 percent of the total production cost component. Meanwhile, the electricity load in the spinning and weaving industries is respectively 18 to 25 percent and 15 to 22 percent of total production costs.

However, he did not mention in detail the number of closed textile companies because they are still inventoried.

"If the tariff is going to rise, so more companies are closed. Last year there was a lot of electricity, and this is our inventory, "explained Ade to CNNIndonesia.com, Monday (29/1).

So far, he continued, the new association inventoried the cessation of the upstream textile industry first. From the findings, as many as 1.2 million spinning eyes have been suspended during the last year. That number is recorded 10 percent of total spinning eyes in Indonesia of 12 million.

"If the electricity is expensive, where can the domestic industry have the competitiveness, If the electricity is played, then Indonesia has no future for manufacturing or anything else, so the electricity must be okomotfi and contributor to industrial competitiveness," he said.

If electricity prices continue to rise, then this could certainly be a liability for the growth of national textile production is pegged 5 percent this year. In fact, this also affects the performance of Indonesia's growing textile exports, with the figure reaching US $ 12.4 billion, up from the previous year's US $ 11 billion.

"If this is allowed, this will certainly be a pressure for the government. If industrialization does not work, Termination of Employment (PHK) will occur and this can be a serious threat in the political year like this year, "he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) confirmed that the new formula of tariff adjustment for non-subsidized subsidized PT PLN (Persero) customers would make electricity tariffs rise. The reason, the new formula of tariff adjustment includes the current price factor of coal uphill trend.

"It must (will go up)," said Director General of Electricity Andy Noorsaman Someng in his office

Tarif Listrik Naik, Berikut Tanggapan Industri Tekstil
