Meanwhile, API Secretary Ernovian G. Ismy considered the US is the main market for textile and textile products (TPT) Indonesia, in addition to the European Union and Japan. To increase exports to the US, the Indonesian government should strengthen bilateral cooperation with the United States.


In addition, the Indonesian government needs to lobby for the US to facilitate entry into Indonesian products.


According to him, so far the government of Indonesia is still weak in lobbying the US government. In fact, the results of the lobby can increase the country's foreign exchange.


Ernovian added that bilateral cooperation would be more effective than through multilateral forums involving many countries, such as Asean + 3 which also involves the US. Because, within Asean itself there are countries that become competitors of Indonesia to penetrate the US market.


"To all countries, we must comply with the existing rules, but with the lobbies are expected we can get the ease to enter the US market. For example, Vietnam managed to get a tariff rate of 0% for its TPT products to the European Union, "he said.


AS Pasar Utama TPT Indonesia


Sementara itu, Sekjen API Ernovian G Ismy menilai AS merupakan pasar utama bagi tekstil dan produk tekstil (TPT) Indonesia, selain Uni Eropa dan Jepang. Untuk meningkatkan ekspor ke AS, pemerintah RI sebaiknya memperkuat kerja sama bilateral dengan AS.


Selain itu, pemerintah RI perlu melakukan lobi-lobi agar AS memberikan kemudahan masuk terhadap produk Indonesia.


Menurut dia, selama ini pemerintah RI masih lemah dalam melobi pemerintahan AS. Padahal, hasil lobi itu dapat meningkatkan devisa negara.


Ernovian menambahkan, kerja sama bilateral akan lebih efektif dibandingkan melalui forum multilateral yang melibatkan banyak negara, seperti Asean+3 yang juga melibatkan AS. Sebab, di dalam Asean sendiri ada negara-negara yang menjadi pesaing Indonesia untuk menembus pasar AS.


“Terhadap semua negara, memang kita harus mematuhi aturan yang ada, tapi dengan adanya lobi-lobi diharapkan kita bisa mendapatkan kemudahan untuk masuk pasar AS. Contohnya Vietnam yang berhasil mendapatkan tarif bea masuk 0% untuk produk TPT-nya ke Uni Eropa,” ujar dia.
