The Minister of Industry of Airlangga Hartarto said that in some countries there are still tariffs set too high for industrial products from Indonesia. For example, Europe and America are imposing import duties on Indonesian textile products of 5-20 percent.

"As for Southeast Asian countries, such as Vietnam, already without import duty or zero percent," said Menperin, in Jakarta, Wednesday (31/1/2018).

"If the barriers can be reduced, the performance of our textile and footwear exports will continue to rise," he added.

Moreover, Airlangga said, the national textile product industry has a high competitiveness in the global market because it has been integrated from upstream to downstream. "Special sports shoes and apparel industry, we've passed China. In fact, in Brazil, we have mastered the market there to 80 percent, "he added.

Therefore, the Ministry of Industry is intensively improving the performance of export-oriented labor-intensive industries. One of the efforts that has been done is to propose this sector to get fiscal incentives in the form of income tax deduction used for reinvestment.

Airlangga said the export-oriented labor-intensive industries are being boosted by their performance, including the textile and textile products, footwear, fish processing and seaweed industries. In addition, multifarious industries (children's toys, educational and sports equipment, optics, musical instruments), pharmaceutical industries, cosmetics and traditional medicine, as well as creative industries (crafts, fashion, jewelery).

Furthermore, rubber finished goods industry (motor vehicle tire and aircraft tire rethreading), electronics and telematics (multimedia, software), wood and rattan furniture industries, and food and beverage industries (CPO derivatives, coffee processing, cocoa).

In fact, not only large scale industries, Kemenperin also encourage small and medium industries (IKM) to participate in capturing market opportunities in the era of digital economy and Industry 4.0 by utilizing the latest technological developments in manufacturing.

"We have launched the IKM e-Smart program, in early 2017. One of its goals is to improve market access through internet marketing," Airlangga said. Ministry of Industry has signed a Cooperation Agreement with several domestic marketplaces, among them Tokopedia, Blibli, Shopee, Bukalapak and Blanja.

Throughout the year 2017, more than 1730 business actors have joined the IKM e-Smart program from 23 provinces. In 2019, it is targeted to reach 10 thousand perpetrators of IKM throughout Indonesia.

"The program also encourages SMEs to innovate, improve product, design development, and follow education and training," Airlangga said.

Jika Bea Masuk Kecil, Kinerja Ekspor Tekstil Indonesia Meningkat
