Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Hariyadi B Sukamdani asks the government to resolve the trade-related issues with the EU in the Indonesia EU negotiations - the Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Participation (CEPA).

It is expected that both countries can reach the meeting point at this meeting.

"The most anticipated IEU CEPA, if Indonesia can not be better with Vietnam, then it should be at least equal to the competitor country," Hariyadi said.

According to him, Indonesia will get a promising potential with IEU CEPA agreement. Because the area is composed of many countries and human figures are not small. The boom between RI and the EU has long established trade relations.

"Insha Allah will be achieved in 2018. Hopefully quickly completed, but must be in a profitable position, do not vice versa," said Hariyadi.

Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Shinta W Kamdani said the agreement between RI and the EU will provide three impacts, namely market access liberalization, trade facilitation and capasity building such as economic companies.

"In terms of liberalization we see that the access market for labor-intensive sectors such as textiles and footwear is very important for Indonesia to compete with Vietnam," Shinta told Bisnis over the weekend.

In addition, some other sectors such as food and beverage products also require trade agreements with the EU. This is so that Indonesia can compete with other countries that have already reached the dying with the EU.

Currently Vietnam has reached an agreement with the EU to get a low enough tariff to not be charged tariffs for products exported to the region. Basin Indonesia began to fall behind because it is still charged tariff about 11%.

To date only Vietnam and Singapore have completed CEPA with Europe. The rest of Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines are still in the discussion to reach the agreement. RI itself just entered the round of negotiations, while Vietnam had to take eight times negotiations for a deal with the European Union.

"If the road is not just about the trade of goods, there are trade in sevices, investments and there are other things that become considerations," he explained.
