Indonesia Fashion Week Lift Culture Nusantara PDF Print E-mail

If during this fashion show trying to create fashion trends that are rooted in modern culture, Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) dare to be different.


For seven times, the event made by the Association of Indonesian Young Entrepreneur Designers (APPMI) consistently carried the theme of Indonesian culture. The proof, if in 2017 themed Celebrations of Culture, IFW 2018 brings the theme of Cultural Identity.


The reason is simple. APPMI and IFW President Poppy Dharsono considers the richness of the Indonesian earth is very diverse, and the relics of the ancestors need to be preserved and developed.


Therefore, APPMI through IFW, trying to dig the wealth of all regions to create fashion products that are inspired from their respective regions.


If that happens, the craftsmen (regional products such as batik, weaving, etc.) are called to earn a good income.


 "IFW will be a trading and business event for the purpose of industrial fashion business, so we use DNA culture, so inspiration, identity, energy and 'gold' source," he said at a press conference in Lippo Kemang, Jakarta, Thursday / 3/2018).


Indonesia Fashion Week Angkat Budaya Nusantara


Jika selama ini peragaan busana berusaha menciptakan tren mode yang berakar dari kultur modern, Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) berani tampil beda.


Selama tujuh kali gelaran, acara besutan Asosiasi Perancang Pengusaha Muda Indonesia (APPMI) konsisten mengusung tema budaya Indonesia. Buktinya, bila pada tahun 2017 bertema Celebrations of Culture, IFW 2018 membawa tema Cultural Identity.


Alasannya simpel. Presiden APPMI dan IFW Poppy Dharsono menganggap kekayaan bumi Indonesia sangat beragam, dan peninggalan nenek moyang tersebut perlu dilestarikan dan dikembangkan.


Karena itu, APPMI lewat IFW, berusaha menggali kekayaan semua daerah agar menciptakan produk fesyen yang terinspirasi dari daerah masing-masing.


Jika hal itu terjadi, para pengrajin (produk-produk daerah seperti batik, tenun, dan lain-lain) disebut akan mendapat penghasilan yang baik.


 "IFW akan jadi ajang trading dan bisnis dengan tujuan bisnis fashion industri. Karena itu, kami pakai DNA culture. Culture bia jadi inspirssi, identitas, energi dan sumber 'emas'," katanya saat konferensi pers di Lippo Kemang, Jakarta, Kamis (15/3/2018).
