TPT Can Donate Exports US $ 38 Billion PDF Print E-mail

Textile and textile products (TPT) exports could triple to US $ 38 billion in the next five years, or become Indonesia's largest non-oil export contributor and create jobs for 6 million people.

To achieve this value, the government of Indonesia should primarily realize free trade with the European Union this year, and ask for 0% tariff to the United States because cotton for raw materials is imported from there. In addition, modernize industrial machines.

Countries that benefit from free trade with the EU include Vietnam, which enjoys 0% tariff. The neighboring country in Asean succeeded in increasing exports by 10.23% to US $ 31 billion last year. In addition to having achieved free trade with the EU, this communist state uses good technology to improve quality and added value.

While Indonesia's exports were only about US $ 12.59 billion last year, only up 6% compared to the year of 2016 about US $ 11.87 billion. The exports consisted of apparel that rose from US $ 7.21 billion in 2016 to $ 7.93 billion last year, while textile exports stagnated at US $ 4.66 billion. This labor-intensive TPT industry absorbs about 3 million workers.

Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat said Indonesia needs to emulate the Ethiopian government which managed to get a 0% tariff in both the EU and US markets, which are the world's first and second largest textile importers. The country in Africa is now able to advance its textile industry.

"So, the government that should be considered to establish free trade there are two main. First, the contribution of exports can be huge and create millions of new jobs, "said Ade Sudrajat

TPT Bisa Sumbang Ekspor US$ 38 M

Sedangkan ekspor Indonesia hanya sekitar US$ 12,59 miliar tahun lalu, hanya naik 6% dibanding tahun 2016 sekitar US$ 11,87 miliar. US$ 7,93 miliar tahun lalu, sedangkan ekspor tekstil stagnan US$ 4,66 miliar.
