The Empty Handicraft Textile Industry Face The Cotton Cartel PDF Print E-mail
Written by Maizer
Monday, 30 April 2018

The traditional textile expert from Yogyakarta, Jadin C Djamaludin, acknowledged that the textile crafters for handicraft products were helpless against the cartel of cotton. The only way to survive is to rely on the use of natural fibers.

"We need to revitalize the handicraft textile industry. So far, many craftsmen do not know that cotton fiber is almost 100 percent imported, "he said on Friday (27/04/2018), at the Gathering-Kumpul Art House, Karangnongko Panggungharjo Sewon Bantul.

Accompanied by Agus Herwindo Muatip and the natural dye textile expert Dedi purwadi, Jadin who is also Chairman of the Indonesian Traditional Textile Peduli Foundation (Pettri) is concerned, the government does not seem to give alignments to the craft textile craftsmen.

"The cotton carton is very strong. Previously, cotton for Indonesia was pooled in Malaysia first, then sent to Iindonesia. We have striven for pool in Indonesia, "he said.

During this time, the craftsmen of textiles for handicraft products rarely know the cotton material used is the rest of the grade four and five factories.

"The quality is less good and processed again. That's what really happened. So, we look for alternatives to reduce the use of cotton. To replace the cotton we can not because it has dominated. We try to use pineapple fiber. It was a dream actually. China and India are already using pineapple fiber, "he said.

Exhibition

As a form of independence, Yayasan Pettri Yogyakarta then held Alternative Natural Fashion Fiber Exhibition. The event took place at Jadin Craft Textile Gallery, Karangnongko Sewon Bantul on 30 April to 6 May 2018.

The plan of the exhibition was opened on Monday (30/04/2018) by the Chairman of the National Council of Local Handicrafts (Dekranasda) DIY, GKR Hemas.

Agus Herwindo Muatip added that the exhibition was presented in this exhibition, among others, various natural fibers, textile products made of hemp fiber, pineapple fiber, silk afal, sansivera fiber, wild silk and white silk cassava leaves.

Completed the exhibition, also held a meeting with the topic of Natural Fiber as an Alternative for Handicraft Textile Industry as well as Natural Dyes, an Alternative to Enhance Perpetrators and the Environment of Craft Textile Business.

While the fashion show is scheduled Sunday (06/05/2018) in Jadin Craft Textile Gallery. This time will be shown a number of works of APPMI Yogyakarta designer with guest star Tuti Adyb.

Industri Tekstil Kerajinan Tak Berdaya Hadapi Kartel Kapas

“Kita perlu merevitalisasi industri tekstil kerajinan.

“Kartel kapas sangat kuat.

Pameran
