Kadin Strives for Strengthening Indonesian Market Access in the US PDF Print E-mail

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Kadin), the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo) and the United States Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) are exploring Indonesia's investment and trade opportunities in the US.


"We facilitated it on the sidelines of the meeting (Tifa-17) in Jakarta last week," said Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Director of Bilateral Talks at the Directorate General of International Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade in Jakarta, Saturday (05/19/2010).


The opportunity is, he said, as the strengthening of Indonesian market access in the US especially the clothing, fruits and restaurant investment sector besides joint production in the film sector between the two countries.


Total trade of Indonesia-US goods in the period 2013-2017 continues to increase. In 2017 reached USD 25.90 billion, up 10.53% compared to 2016 which is only USD 23.43 billion. Indonesia's exports to the US in 2017 were recorded at USD 17.78 billion and imports from the US totaled USD 8.12 billion. Or, Indonesia's trade balance surplus to the US reached USD 9.66 billion in 2017. While the period of February 2018, Indonesia's trade balance to the US surplus of USD 1.41 billion.


For Indonesia, the US is Indonesia's 2nd major export destination after China. In terms of investment, the value of US investment in Indonesia reached USD 1.9 billion, ranked third after Japan and Singapore.



Kadin Upayakan Penguatan Akses Pasar Indonesia di AS


Kamar Dagang & Industri (Kadin) Indonesia, Asosiasi Pengusaha Indonesia (Apindo) & Kadin Amerika Serikat (Amcham) menjajaki peluang investasi & perdagangan Indonesia di AS.


“Kami memfasilitasinya disela-sela pertemuan itu (Tifa ke-17) di Jakarta pekan lalu,” ujar Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Direktur Perundingan Bilateral Ditjen Perundingan Perdagangan Internasional Kementerian Perdagangan di Jakarta, Sabtu (19/5/2018).


Peluang dimaksud, katanya, sebagai penguatan akses pasar Indonesia di AS terutama sektor produk pakaian, buah-buahan, dan investasi restoran selain produksi bersama di sektor film antara dua negara.


Total perdagangan barang Indonesia-AS periode 2013-2017  terus meningkat. Pada 2017 mencapai USD 25,90 milyar, naik 10,53% dibandingkan 2016 yang hanya USD 23,43 milyar. Ekspor Indonesia ke AS pada 2017 tercatat USD 17,78 milyar dan impor dari AS mencapai USD 8,12 milyar. Atau, surplus neraca perdagangan Indonesia terhadap AS mencapai USD 9,66 milyar pada 2017. Sementara periode Februari 2018, neraca perdagangan Indonesia terhadap AS surplus USD 1,41 milyar.


Bagi Indonesia, AS tujuan ekspor utama Indonesia ke-2 setelah China. Dari sisi investasi, nilai investasi AS di Indonesia mencapai USD 1,9 miliar, menempati peringkat ke-3 setelah Jepang dan Singapura.
