The art of cloth is an activity or skill to create or deliver a work made of fabric or textile. These include batik art, art weaving, tapestry art, tye dye (shibori) and others. One who seriously pursue and share knowledge about the art of this cloth is Denny Gandasoebrata, alumnus of Cinematography Institute Jakarta Arts Institute.

The word "art of cloth", according to Denny in conversation with Akurat.co, is a popular language which means the art of textile craft. He himself since five years later focus on choosing patterns of tye dye or shibori. Shibori is an art from Japan, where a pattern on fabric is created by dyeing process in dye.

The basis for making Shibori is similar to batik, where some parts of fabric are 'protected' so as not to get dyed. So the end result gives the pattern according to the colored part and is 'protected' by using techniques such as folding, twisting and tying the fabric and dipping it on the dye, usually indigo. The material used to tie the fabric will hold the dye, so the fabric area underneath will not change color.

He specialized in developing the dye by innovating on the tools and skills of folding techniques, binding techniques, coloring techniques, and techniques of taste. With the innovation, born from the hands of works of different from each other and "limited edition" which until now has not found its twin.

In developing the pattern of tye dye, Deny did not hesitate to share knowledge and knowledge that he tapped from his wife, Indri Adnan Putra, a fellow alumni of IKJJ but from the Faculty of Fine Arts Kriya Department who now teach in their alumni. Denny, among others, once gave a work shop in Waroeng Pinus, Bukit Pakar Utara, Bandung; House of Tea, Cilandak South Jakarta; as well as in Batik Training Disparbud Prov DKI Jakarta, PPSB South Jakarta

Kian Digemari, Mengolah Kriya Tekstil Melalui Seni Olah Kain
