Demand Increases, Manufacturing Industry Spurs Production After Lebaran PDF Print E-mail

Manufacturing industry is predicted to intensively encourage its production after this year's Lebaran holiday. The increase in productivity is expected to contribute positively to the growth of the third quarter performance of 2018 from the previous period.

"Yesterday the mode of transportation of goods was limited by a long holiday than usual. But this can be pursued in the third quarter later, "said Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto in a written statement in Jakarta.

Menperin said the momentum of regional elections (Pilkada) which took place this year in various regions in Indonesia, could be one of the drivers of the increasing demand for public goods. With increasing demand, automatically the manufacturing industry will increase its productivity.

"Especially later there will also be elections, of course the demand for more products," he said.

Airlangga also mentioned that some manufacturing sectors are likely to grow due to the high domestic demand during Ramadan and pilkada, such as food and beverage industry, textile and textile products (TPT), and footwear industries. "In fact, the printing industry will also increase," he said.

Confirmed separately, Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat Usman expresses a different opinion. According to Ade, demand for textile and textile products (tpt) in the country after the moment of Idul Fitri is usually not very significant. Because people's need for new clothes will be lower than before Lebaran. However, Ade said the potential for increased demand exists in the export market, especially for this type of garment product.

"Maybe (export) will grow above 5% until the end of the year," said Ade to Katadata, Tuesday (19/6).

According to him, the Indonesian garment industry will continue to increase in the export market because Indonesia is one of the manufacturers that obey the regulations required by the buyer. As for the export of textile products is estimated stagnant, because of the difficulty of penetrating export markets, especially Europe, due to hampered environmental issues.

"That is the issue and cause buyers of the world will not carelessly give orders to industries that pollute the environment," he said.

With the spread of environmental issues, Ade hopes it can be the government's attention in making regulations and technical guidance. Because, now all permits for the establishment of factories and production are in the hands of the government. If there is no proper regulation and guidance, then it is feared will make naughty industry actor carelessly doing its production activities. As a result tpt production can be rejected in the export market.

Moreover, Ade previously said, tpt competition in the export market today is getting tighter. Which over the past 5 years, textile exports to the United States (US) and Europe have decreased. According to Ade, the demand for textiles from both export destinations began to shift Bangladesh and Vietnam along with the trade agreements that have signed both countries with the European Union. Meanwhile. India has also started expanding for textile products to the United States.

Based on data from Bank Indonesia (BI) processed API, the total exports of Indonesian textiles over the past year reached US $ 11.83 billion. The largest export destination of domestic textile is the United States (US) of 32.34%, European Union 14.97%, and Japan 10.08%.

Permintaan Naik, Industri Manufaktur Pacu Produksi Setelah Lebaran

Berdasarkan data Bank Indonesia (BI) yang diolah API, total ekspor tekstil Indonesia sepanjang tahun lalu mencapai US$ 11,83 miliar.
