Textile Products Become Potential Export Commodities Into African Markets PDF Print E-mail
Written by Maizer
Thursday, 05 July 2018

President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo provide direction to increase exports to new markets such as the Middle East, Central Asia, Latin America and especially Africa region. Increased value of exports should be done because since 2012, the value of exports to some major countries has decreased.

When compared to 2015, specifically in 2016 alone, the value of Indonesian exports to the United States decreased by 0.59 percent, Japan 10.6 percent, and India 13.9 percent.

The African region is an alternative destination for Indonesian exports, as the population reaches 1.2 billion people (2016). Some potential commodities to be exported to Africa are:

1. Palm oil

2. Textile and textile products

3. Paper products

4. Cleansing soap

5. Margarine

To support the increase in export value to Africa, the government has provided Rp1.3 trillion fund managed by the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI). The funds are intended to provide financing to exporters, which can be used for insurance against export failures, default payments, or overseas investments and political risks. As well as some other benefits.

Marolop Nainggolan, Director of Export Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Trade, said to establish a network while introducing the African region market to Indonesian exporters, the Ministry of Commerce has done various ways. One of them brings Indonesian entrepreneurs or exporters with buyers from Africa.

"In various trade fairs, both at home and abroad, we bring Indonesian entrepreneurs to buyers from Africa," Marolop said in a discussion forum organized by the Indonesian Employers Association (APINDO) in Jakarta some time ago.

Produk Tekstil Menjadi Komoditi Potensial Ekspor Ke Pasar Afrika
