United States Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ted McKinney said Indonesia is still being reviewed for generalized system of preferences (GSP). GSP is a policy to provide import duty relief on the import of certain goods from developing countries.

He said there are 124 Indonesian export products that are included in the GSP and are being evaluated. These products, among others, textiles, plywood, cotton, and some fishery products such as shrimp and crabs.

"The concept of GSP is certainly one of the issues discussed, the discussion is still ongoing in the United States," he said when met in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

According to him, the evaluation was conducted to determine what products are still eligible to receive GSP. However, McKinney said, not only Indonesia that its GSP products are evaluated, some other countries also experience it. However, McKinney claims he can not talk further because the GSP issue is not his responsibility.

There are 3,547 tariff lines that will be reviewed Uncle Sam's country. Minister of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia Enggartiasto Lukita hopes that the line tariff is not revoked because it will have a negative impact on Indonesian exports.

"All the tariff lines can be pulled out all the same (US), most of them into the US textile, foodware, palm oil and vegetable, machinery, including rubber.A negative impact is sure that GSP line tariff is revoked, because if GSP lost, then the cost will be higher, "he said.

For that, Enggar will negotiate with the US Government. He will make a working visit to Uncle Sam's country on 21 to 28 July 2018.
